  1. Besides, anything on the vehicle, as delivered through the dealer is, when sold is either LR fitted, or LR approved. I've asked around and I can leave my cages - and the rest - on the vehicles...
  2. So...... What does the CT (French MOT) man say...
  3. 30 tonnes press versus plastic helmet..... Let me think for a moment. Rather not.... I suggest you reconsider the work procedure...
  4. Many things have been fitted by Land Rover, or were with their approval, over the past 7 decades and most were not documented on the logbooks. Many brochures are around showing all kind of weird things fitted on, in and under LR's and cages were one of them - although LR usu. calls them roll over protection.. Obviously the Camels had them, but also the NAS Spec Defenders and the Tomb Raiders had tubing fitted. Not to mention the well known "Golden 110's" that were build by LR to do a around the world trip... Also, loads were fitted to working vehicles where H&S required something and many were fitted through the dealer what makes it getting close to "OE".. However, have you spoken to your CT man about this ? "...all equipments that have been not been fitted by Land Rover themselves will be deemed illegal..." seems a bit steep, even in France. Also, from what year onwards are you talking about as it will be very, very difficult to explain a few things to the various French car owners that after 60 years their vehicle is suddenly "illegal"... Bon Courage ! P.S. ukp. 3,000 for a roll cage.... what are you getting ? P.P.S. There is some new ruling about the vehicle having to be "factory finish" in order to qualify for CT exemption etc..
  5. Interesting.. Considering fitting them to both the Ninety and the 110..
  6. They've been "sourcing" (different term for "finding") for at least 5 years to this kind of projects. Projects like this make the factory some serious money so well worth doing.. A steady flow of "vehicle (remains)" have been moved around for a long time to 3 collection points in a degree of silence.. I'd be surprised if these "150" vehicles have not already been sold a few times before they were build - plenty of people with the money wanting to buy one.. ...and much more profitable than developing a new "Defender"...
  7. Said Dutchman could have a proper Series Mountingplate for you.....
  8. Why don't you guys just vote for somebody that gets rid of these "road tax things" ? Many, many countries have much - and I mean : much - higher taxes than the UK. In Holland, I paid € 1700 a year for my LPG powered RRC... France, a long time ago, got rid of the "road tax" and added a small amount to the fuelprice. Drive a lot - pay a lot, drive not a lot - you pay not a lot. Very simple really.. Start a motorist party that aims for 0 road tax....
  9. I like old stuff - but I try not to be blind for progress. ECU's, when used properly, can be really nice to work with but programming PCB's can be a pain to make them do what you want. To tell the thing what to do when what signal comes to what terminal by iPad or smartphone means you can do a lot in a confined space without being obvious. The 1st. one I used was for a camper conversion and it worked really well and very easy to set-up - but that one require a cable. This one doesn't. So yes, it does have downsides but it also means that some things are getting much easier. And as they come down in price it puts them in reach of many. Nothing wrong with Lucas switches & ralays, this just adds an option to the toolkit.
  10. We looked into it and decided to go, for the moment, on loose relays etc. but we have been offered a PCB to play with and see how useful they could be.. But I think it is a very interesting option and a very efficient solutions to a few problems..
  11. I have been looking into this for the 110..... Very interesting !
  12. We kill the vehicles with a master switch - the approved one - and have a seperate battery for the Webasto, radio etc. No risk for running out of starting power. Charging is arrange through a UYBI control box.
  13. Oh please do ! Thank you very much. Pls. let me know what sort of money you're after. ... perhaps some French wine
  14. If you are not urgently needing to get rid of those, I'd be very interested in those 5 rims (michelins are welcome) to be used under the Hybrid. I seem to be doing a UK Raid in March / April to collect quite a few bits and you are not too far off the route.
  15. Goede Avond, Back from a trip playing with trains - the real biggish ones - and too tired to go to bed, I'll try to post some pics of said roof conversion. In Holland, this conversion is now it seems killed by the taxman so it seems they stopped selling them. We're now in stage IIA of the conversion of the 110. Stage III will be an engine swop once I have time... Hope these help some
  16. " I am back working on the garden railway" Lucky You !! I'm off this Wednesday to play with the real ones again in Lithuania.. Wish I had time to work on the Land Rovers.....
  17. I'm going to print this one and read a few times. On the to do list is swopping a 300 Tdi as it is not just smoking - it is tryinf to cause a black out in the Allier....

    LRO

As I said on LRA, the owners of the titles are in it for the short term money and have no real connection to the marque. Goes for most magazines that specialize in someting... Gone are the days that companies seem to be in it for the long term.... Oh well, progress I guess..
  19. De club in Harderwijk leverde dit als kit. There was a supplier in Harderwijk, NL, that sold this kit. Due to tax reasons, camper conversions in Holland are very difficult..
  20. I will make pics etc. when we start - planning is early January...
