  1. Hi Please movie if wrong section I'm rebuilding a LT230 for my 109" project, and have sourced a suffix 41G of a disco. It was cheap as it had already crashed a bearing. I have now taken it to pieces and found that the bearing had welded to the diff. Shaft and the outer sheel have rotated in the casing. Result: casing and diff ass. are scrap. All gears and other parts are fine. I'm now in the search of donor boxes. My question is: are the casings all the same, Defender, disco, etc.? Also are the diff assembly the same? Shaft
  2. Sounds right with the +28% ish extra the Toro gives. get the wheels balanced, check your steering and make sure the brakes are good, then its no worry in a series.
  3. Hi nice build i can help you, soren, with that Minor Rover. here in live action and pics http://www.bilgalleri.dk/galleri/174252-land_rover_minor_rover_v8_4x4
  4. HI Soren Mechanical Winches Rule !!! How about running the wire in a PVC pipe, from winch to front - just like on The Kitten (Oddballrovers), clears the isued of open wire in the cabin, and can be replace easy, i have 2-3 meters spare black pipe from my heating system, yours if you pick it up.
  5. Santana series gearbox Suffix D Internals - the outer ribs are said to give the box more strength, and should cope better with stronger engines, Santana did a 6 pot diesel etc. on that gearbox.
  6. Hi Todd Go with the 1,22 transfer, and if you can find a LT77S from af TDI - serial starts with 56A, that will raise your 5. gear for extra road cruising comfort. i to would keep the series diffs in order to keep the low range as stock as possible. if needed add some rubber overdrive as suggested, which i think you have with 265/255 tires. try giving this a go: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/calc/ratio_calc.html My own setup for the 109" will be 300 TDI+LT77S+LT230 (1.22)+series diff., with the rear being Salisbary.
  7. Put the steering box in a plastic bag an zip tie it, to stop any leaks of oil - mailman or courier does not enjoy the smell of EP90 or servo oil the same way we do especially not when it is all over the floor of the van. Then wrap it in bubble wrap or like. put it in a box that is as small as possible to keep it from rattling and stuff it with papers or like. give it 2 stripes of tape all round in all 3 directions and that should keep it in the box. I just send a Warn 8274 winch that way to keep it low cost.
  8. You must haggle !! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3n3LL338aGA Sorry could not help it.
  9. I'm running Heystee/TIConsole 2 leaf front and 3 leaf rear on my 88" softtop, and have a Nice soft ride, speed bumps can be taken at max speed. I drive alot with heavy trailer or load in the back, machinery og building tools. Also tires are 235/85-16 or 7.50x16. My suggestion would be these, put some load in it, take it for at long ride with lots of twists for the leafs to Deal with. Then loosen ALL your shackle bolts, like Daan suggests, rock the car alot, load it and unload it so it settles and then retighten the bolts. By the way, how well are the bolts greased ? Then if no good i would look at those ProComps, but by any luck they will be leaking soon, mine did, so bined those. Use it more, use it more, use it more and they will settle better.
  10. Hi Mads No you can't, as i understand this. The E and H have different Internal parts.
  11. Welcome to the STW owners club!
  12. Any chance of this tread getting back on track ?? would very much like to see the rest of the rebuild, before i start on my own.
  13. Nice! Any pics of the internals of those flight cases?
  14. Uhhh, Nice. Any pics of how these rock sliders are attached to the frame, please..
  15. Hi I have a LT77 serial 50A, suffix E gearbox with the standard wear issue, and wonder if i could upgraded this to the later 56A suffix G/H. by just changing relevant parts and changing the 5th gear to the newer one with better ratios ? lets hear ?
  16. Great job!! Very Nice work, another series saved. @soren, you know brake fluid will take off paint too.
  17. What a beauty.... Nice job all the way.
  18. Hi i'm in the rebuild of my 2,5 N/A engine, which previously have been skimmed, this means that my new hotspots will be to high for this head. what have you done in this case ? skimmed them by hand or in the mill ? let me hear your stories. was trying to save the mony for another skim of the complete head.
  19. Hi I have this setup in my 88", 2,5 n/a, standard gearbox, standard diffs, tires 235/85-16 on oneton rims, Runs sweet, pulls great from start with and without trailer. My first shot would be bigger tires, 600 are thinny. I'm doing 90 km/h flatout. But going to fit a ashcroft High ratio transfer, to gain higher top speed, White keeping the low range. Fittings RR of Defender diff. will make low range useless in my opinion.
  20. Well, hoses in the bin, managed to save the brackets, new hoses and bolts ordered, Thanks.
  21. Hi Soren, i'm about to trow 3 stainless hoses in the bin, just because of rusted nuts that can't be moved, only last chance it grinding them carefully of. (the hoses have being taken of)
