Got the front axle back together last night (finshed about 11 when I decided there was too much rain and not enough dinner happening). Still got the rear axle to do, propshafts to connect and ep90 to insert into lots of places. Also got to fit the new alternator, cut-out and contactor for the winch. Put wheels back on, and hope that the centre-diff survived last weekends differential carnage... Not a huge amount by the standards of this place, but more than I wanted to be doing the day before the event! laters Mark
  3. I have never seen anything for the disco, I have to admit. I have seen them done on 200's with a spacer ring sitting round the head unit bezel, but I am not really a fan of that look. As a rather more radical approach, have you considerd fitting a 300 dash or even just the centre console? It would be rather a lot of work, but the head unit position was in a much more conventional place... Cheers Mark
  4. Blimey, how do you get your 2.25 to start in 30 secs???? I wish mine would...
  5. Or you could go and get your truck moving.....
  6. Assuming you have the mushroom head type shaft, which you should have, it will be a 10-spline axle... enjoy Mark
  7. Had an excellent day at shoreham playing around with Orange in his rangie, some of the horsham posse. gernally was planning a shakedown ready for doing the mike wolfe next weekend. So on the way back to meet Rocker ready to trundle home, I said 'lets just have a go at this bit...' unfortunatly this left me stuck, so Orange dragged me out, but in the process I managed to blow the rear diff... so to drive home I engaged diff lock and started a gentle trundle home. However, shortly before getting there, a large bang happened, which turned out to be the front diff letting go rather spectactualrly. Again, Orange to the rescue - He towed me home via the jetwash. However, while i was jetwashing the front axle, it dislodged the lump of mud that was plugging the hole in the front diff pan that had been made by the diff when it went. So I am now left with two broken diffs (at least - not sure about the centre diff at the moment) and a hole in the axle case, and most of all ?I am left wondering, why did I just have to push my luck.... so, anyone got any good 10-spline diffs I can get hold of during the week? hmph Mark
  8. Our lightweight ran for years on black and silver plates, and I never had any issues with the boys in blue. I had them attached over the top of the reflective ones such that they could just be removed with the wing nuts... Used to take them off for the MoT just in case, but otherwise they were on there the whole time - it was a V plate truck... Cheers Mark
  9. To be fair to paddocks, they more often than not stock the OE versions of a lot of these parts too. Certainly for bushes and the like there are often several grades available, so I generally order the OE or Genuine version rather than the pattern one. same is true of craddocks, or pretty much any mail order supplier I can think of.
  10. Yep, we are all nicely settled on our new server now.
  11. looks like you did well out of the deal les.
  12. One route to go down is to go with a 'Vehivle Inspection" by your local vosa office. They can then decree if your modifications require you to have an SVA. I believe miketomcat went down that route with his disco based tomcat. I don't know the details explicitly, but he might be worth a pm... Cheers Mark
  13. Your best bet would be to find an MoT failed discovery (there should be plenty about). rob the engine out of it, and sell the rest as parts. IMHO, I would go for the 200 TDI... Mark
  14. Disco Fi has a ryders winch on her disco, but it looked a lot like a clone of a warn to me... got a link to any info on them?
  15. Nope, I didn't yet - I am still planning to steal yours!!!
  16. Ooh, yeah, I forgot Nick had one.... Will bother him tomorrow about it then... ta Mark
  17. Does anyone have a copy of the template for cutting the wing on a Disco 1 to fit the mantec snorkel??? If you do, and could photo copy it, or lend it while I photocopy it, I would be really grateful. Cheers Mark
  18. I'm likeing the HFS logo idea...
  19. curious as to the design, but XL for me please!
  20. If you find your local sealy agent they often have good deals on this sort of stuff. I have a 2.25t sealy jack which came with a nice set of axle stands and have never had any problems with it lifting the 109 or the lardy disco...
  21. I have a 175A Butters, and have been really pleased with it: In this particular instance orange is good...
