The engine is supposedly 100kg lighter than a tdi,  I guess aluminium block helps with that, stuff like the aircon pump will also come off as won't need that, lightweights have plenty of aircon....

What are the adapters for gearbox wise ?

glad to help and equally thanks for the parts from your treasure store.

The heater and diff are for the 88 re-chassis you saw and the rear bumperettes are for a friend with an FFR 109 that was de-militarised by a previous owner so they will give the back end some originality again

Sid is going to be a spritely chap with the higher revving engine AND the 1.003 transfer box :) 

Out of curiosity what is the theoretical top speed at the moment and what will it be after the surgery?

Anyone know all the numbers to pop in the gearing calculator thingy?

They were for some Slush box I believe. I can’t find the post so it might have sold

36.8, and the 1UZ unless using aftermarket ECU is limited to 6700rpm, so about 135mph, meaning cruise at 70 would be 3850rpm, which is quite high, is that using 1.4 t-case or 1.003?

Yup, I'm not entirely certain 'cruise' would ever be at 70mph in Sid, but I have been proven wrong by Stephen a few times ;)

So just how excited are you now? Do you think it'll fit?

Note: I said do you think it'll fit not will you make it fit (we know that's going to be the case)!

Looking at that photo you appear to be missing the MAF sensor on the intake or did you get it in a box? The bit circled in green

Can someone please stop for a minute and summarise why this engine is suitable / more attractive for Sid, compared with other choices and whether or not it can only go in a Lightweight? It's hard for a mere mortal to follow, as you all seem to "know" what's happening and why. Thanks
