headhunter
So that is it, dates set for the weekend of 21st to 23rd of November. Thanks Chris Time to revive this if everyone is happy. Do we need a new thread? (I decided we did - GBMUD) I am still on for it and am prepared to do some enquiring into accommodation etc. Are we still agreed on the 21 to 23 November? Have we finally agreed where to base ourselves, is it Edale or hotel/accommodation dependent? Do we have anyone who will recommend and perhaps lead local routes? How many are still keen to participate? John
GBMUD
Time to revive this if everyone is happy.Do we need a new thread? (I decided we did, that OK? - GBMUD) I am still on for it and am prepared to do some enquiring into accommodation etc. Are we still agreed on the 21 to 23 November? Have we finally agreed where to base ourselves, is it Edale or hotel/accommodation dependent? Do we have anyone who will recommend and perhaps lead local routes? How many are still keen to participate? John I was just thinking that we should get on and sort this out. Travel Lodge are having a sale, rooms down to £19 with a rumour of £9 rooms to come. Before we decide on a place to stay, will someone who knows his way around please suggest somewhere (Edale?) within reasonable proximity to the main area/s of lanes? I still favour Premier Inn (If Martin can still get a good rate at this late stage) but I am concerned that there may be none within reasonable distance of the Peak lanes. I/we would value local input. IMHO we all need to be in one place to have a social, meet one another etc. A central pub/inn/hotel location? Godlykepower
Guys, my fault I have not even begun to look into the rooms avenue yet. I am having THE hardest time of my entire career right now , and just have had no motivation to do anything other than tell my company to shove it all up their collective ring pieces. Although I am working on solutions to my woes, I may have to cancel my commitment to even GOING on the trip, let alone arrange accomodation. Sorry. Martin ps If I can sort these business issues out in time, I am still very much in! Its also never too late for me to arrange accomodation BTW. GBMUD
Although I am working on... ....my commitment to even GOING on the trip No problem, decide the day before if you need to. Hope you sort work out. Chris

GBMUD
OK, lets assume that we are all still going or there will soon be pages and pages of this stuff! I will believe folk are coming once we have decided on a location and rooms are booked. Anyone local able to help make suggestions? Turbocharger
I can give a couple of days laning based out of Buxton from my 8 years living there, and I'll definately be joining the trip although I'll be kipping at my parent's house near Ashbourne. Divster
I'll be up for joining in for at least a day (hopefully work won't cancel my days off). I live locally so won't be needing accomodation. Could perhaps recommend some good lanes too. It'll be either the D2 or a 110 for me as I fear the hybrid will still not be alive again by then
nicks90
i'll be up for joining the day - as i live fairly local. also got a couple of good route maps of lanes in the area to donate to the "possible routes" collection.
headhunter
So far from analysis of the original post we have some individuals with local "Derbyshire/Peaks" knowledge who are interested and appear to be on the list of participants. They are:- letsgetdirty - tris Turbocharger - john bickerton knows of 2 days laning around Buxton Noggy - chris lives on a farm 5 miles from Chesterfield Raceface 120 lives Northwich so should know some lanes from the west Divster - lives Derbyshire and knows local lanes, is available for a day. Godlykepower - knows Monsal Dale judging from a u-tube clip he has done. Nicks90 - i'll be up for joining the day - as i live fairly local. also got a couple of good route maps of lanes in the area to donate to the "possible routes" collection. Please if you listed above are still interested, give some guidance as where you recommend we go. There must be more of you who know some routes which will help determine where we base from. Please post if you have up to date knowledge of suitable tracks or a club we could enquire of. I have counted 33 forum members from the old post who expressed a definite interest plus 6 possibles, not including partners. So a possible 40 vehicles! I imagine not all from the original post will still want to participate, however there could still be a large number to accommodate in both terms of beds and lanes/tracks. As this is an informal gathering with no leader or responsible person in charge as such how would you wish to proceed with getting it up and running? We need to determine our accommodation base or bases given the numbers, which should be not too far away from where we plan to go "off-road" I am prepared to look into accommodation options once the base area is determined. Is there anyone prepared to do some initial research into where we go and to verify the latest legal routes? Is there anyone who is prepared to "lead" small groups as the pathfinder (first vehicle) once routes are decided? As Chris pointed out before, this is a private activity and not a club or forum organized trip, with each individual responsible for their own actions, however if we want it to happen we have to work and plan together. Over to you! John
Mo Murphy
John, I'm happy to lead a group and with Russ's help I'll sort a day or twos routes out as well. Mo

IIRC the County Council/NPO were pretty helpful on routes last time I went a few years ago. In the past, I have chosen a suitable venue (Llanerchindda, YH at Ambleside), published details and left it to individuals to book. I would suggest that subject to finding suitable accommodation, this would work again. From experience, a communal dining/drinking experience is great for meeting people/socialising. africanpete
I'm still in and £19 with it possibly going down to £9 sounds very good to me! Martin, hope all goes well and you can still make the trip. Sorry, can't help on the local lane knowledge or the lead vehicle thing, carp at both. discojmz
Im a bit late jumping on the band wagon, but this sounds like a great idea. Personally I shall be with tent, whether it be edale, matlock, baslow, wherever.

Give me a holler if y'all need a hand sorting out any logistics etc, as i've got some time to donate at the moment plus access to the wayfinder project. Just need two days of laning routes finalising with a start GR and time......

nicks90
here we go!!! http://www.doric.plus.com/greenlaning/december2006/nick.htm has little screen grabs of the OS map for each lanes and map files. God i'm good ps, highly recommend you do this route in reverse order from how its displayed on the page, or yuou end up doing stanage 'up hill' in the dark. ps. disclaimer, these lanes were all legal in dec 2006 - their status may have changed since then and will need checking.
