ltwt1981
In the MGOC race championship we have a competitor who tows an MGB on a trailer behind a Rolls Royce. Similarly in the post historics a car on trailer behind a Bentley. Both say the cars about 15-20 years old are good value and a great tow car. Jon White
I've towed one of the old cast iron garden rollers up the road by roping it to the back bumper of my dads old ford cortina!
BogMonster
i've towed a 109 with a fiat 126 0-60 in ???? Hmm the oddest thing...... well now Portakabins towed over mountains - without using a trailer - and just to prove it here is a photo. Towed two of them about 30 miles off-road using two tractors, in the days before roads, did about half the distance on the first day, slept in the kabins overnight (in the middle of nowhere) and carried on the following day. Ha ha ha beat that for a caravan Towed a different portakabin to Dad's house with a crawler tractor and that portakabin now has a Rolls Royce living in it We do some odd things in this part of the world but sometimes its great fun Some people here have moved entire houses using a similar technique - jack it up, built a sleigh under it, hitch a few tractors on and off you go, truly a mobile home
Guest diesel_jim
Got no pictures of it, but at my parents place they've got a 16' fiberglass mushroom, painted orange, brown and white. we used to have it as a playhouse when we were kids, it was originally a ticket booth for a funfair. the bottom rotted out of it, and in a high wind it fell over, and as it's hollow, it acted like a big air rifle pellet! the wind took it out the driveway and up the road. dad had to back with the tractor and recover it! bill van snorkle
As a lad in the 1960's and 70's in Melbourne I used to know of a couple of bus companies that used 80 inch wheelbase LandRovers to tow broken down 8 ton Leyland and AEC buses back to the workshops for repair. I think they must have been the real early 80 inchers with constant 4wd and the freewheel unit in the t/case as I could not imagine the diffs or axles in the later models with selective 4wd lasting too long pulling that weight in low range 4wd on sealed roads. Bush65
In Australia, we like big things. Like the Big Banana, the Big Pineapple and the Big Prawn. On my way home from work one day, I passed a truck towing the Big Turd.

evil90
Having been in the recovery game for a while i have had to tow loads of old wrecks and other interesting things the most relevant to us was these landy ambulances which i had to take from tilbury docks to chelsea barracks as you can see these were not used in the iraq war but were kept as spares i had to load them up on my own they are left hookers and i had to get out of the back door just a little bit of a squeeze as i didnt know if it would go in there or not Fords car transporters could only be straight barred as they run at nearly 16' 6" anyway This is the problem with going down country lanes too quickly when you dont know what cargo you have on board The people i picked this up for told me that the driver had hit a branch and twisted the frame a bit and needed it delivered from essex to aylesford in kent i got some funny looks going down the m20 with that on the back. the rear doors were overhanging by about 6' This wasnt me but i found myself stuck behind it for quite some time as the driver of the unit who is on the other side of the roundabout and the driver of the trailer (the man walking behind with the remote) struggled to get this plane hull which was going to be used as an office in holland out of southend to harwich he also had a blowout on the trailer the roundabout before this one Frank
