ajh
Does anyone do real performance parts for TDIs? I know about the turbo options, but how about things like: http://www.4wheelparts.com/Performance-Parts/BD-Diesel-VE-Pump-Performance-Pin-And-Spring-Kit.aspx?t_c=74&t_s=368&t_pt=6185&t_pl=102028 Or things like more complex curve aneroid eccentric pin profiles rather than the simple flat profile ones? muddy
Look around, bosch ve pumps are fitted to lots of engines... My 90 is pretty fruity (for a tdi before nige et all start ) Will.
vulcan bomber
Depends on what your trying to acheave.. All out power or more driveability? In standard form the TDi can be tuned (have more fuel dumped in) with ease, a bigger intercooler will help but increase lag, a bigger turbo will help but will give more lag. a VNT will not aid much with all out power but will give you more drivability.. Then you can get your injector pump faffed with so that the engine is well capable of putting its cylinder head into orbit...
farmerboy_y2k
JE Engineering's stage 2 tdi tune includes a different profile fuel cam. they also gas flow the inlet manifold.

The cam is the bit on the boost diaphram... not that special really.
biggles
Isn't defender and performance a bit of a contradiction in terms? or is that why my insurance keeps going up?, I found out the other day that strange people are even lowering them! reb78
^^ powerful and lowered? something , i don't care what anyone says, including the pope, i want one! If i pull away on gravel, i too can make my 200tdi spin the wheels. If i put my foot on the accelerator, i can also make it chuck out black smoke. Both of my headlights work though. You can get 195 bhp from a TDi if you know what your doing. And I wouldnt let Porny do the work either, I'd go bell auto services personally. Bewildered sassanack
Had full width intercooler and fuel pump tweak by GEMM4x4 this week. My 300tdi is transformed. Thats just with a 2.5, God knows what it would be like with a 2.8. I would definitely make that your first performance tune.
dirtydiesel
You can get 195 bhp from a TDi if you know what your doin I put the best part of 4k into my old 300tdi, pump, injectors, ported and polished head, turbo. And the best it made on a dyno was 182hp. It eventually threw a rod after about 7 years of abuse.

dirtydiesel
What did you do for a intercooler to achieve this power? Daan Saab 9000, very large core 24" x 18" ish but only 3/4 inch thick. Lots of surface area but low volume .
Turbocharger
What injectors were you running? There's no aux spray to omit like on the old IDI engines.

discomikey
no way you can get 195hp for a TDI. most struggle to get more than 160.. and then they can get unreliable. im quite happy with my estimated 145.
