jbs Posted August 2, 2012 Share Posted August 2, 2012 I went to DLS and Paddocks-In Matlock over the last weekend as i was in nottingham visiting family up there and needed some bits urgently, the guy behind DLS's shop counter was mega helpful and agreed that britpart were bad, I was astounded that when I went through the door of the place all i saw was britpart everywhere-why do they do it it's rubbish I did'nt know wether to walk out or carry on asking for what I needed-luckily they had some genuine lucas indicator switches for my 90 on the shelf, and with paddocks the amount of people walking out with britpart made me cringe, the young guy behind the counter was a little bit amused to say the least that I asked for "No britpart please" as I think even they realise now It's rubbish Buy cheap buy twice!! Through experience I've learn't that if it rotates, seals something or is safety critical not to rely on Britpart, yes their stuff is cheap but IMHO it's cheap for a reason. Mind its amazing how many suppliers out there actually send out britpart stuff, thats why now i mainly us LRseries or britpart. ejparrott Posted August 3, 2012 Share Posted August 3, 2012 I've never had good experiences with JC, and a friend with a series 1 now avoids, after countless trips from worcester to cannock, after phoning in advance to see if they had XYZ on the shelf, only to get there and find its the wrong part or its not on the shelf. LRSeries are my prefered supplier these days, then LRDirect - both of whom offer choices of manufacturer, and then AMD in Leicester, but last time I looked their website was still down. LR Series I have used in the past, having discovered that their 'customer relations' department is headed up by Atilla the Hun I now use Britcar who I find very good. 'Live Chat' is good as they can reply as and when able and also it's free unlike the phone. I have Luddite tendencies too, but in this case I'd say 'don't knock it 'til you've tried it!' It seems to be getting more common now, on this site that I use (if memory serves) http://www.4secondsflat.com/ a little box pops up with 'Hi I'm Larry, can I be of assistance?' I bought Craddock Britpart ones the other day as I don't know wherer to get the steel ones anymore. Are they really going to be a proper make on an on-line web site? I got so fed up with parabolic spring choce on-line I went 15 mile down the road to Jones springs. I might get a kicking, but at least I know where to complain (Actually, they are exactly what I wanted in rating) You'ld be amazed who supplies Britpart with stock. Thats why some stuff is good. Britcar for me., Craddocks/Paddocks are pants IMHO ! agreed! britcar are good. especially if you are searching by part number, and they will offer Genuine and pattern parts. John DLS is my local, at 5 miles away, i will buy parts, as their service is good, but i wont go there for MOT's after they told me all 4 wheel bearings needed replacing when it was just the sound of the brake shoe touching the drums. and that from a specialist... My ideal parts, and advice place, especially for series vehicles, but also for any other model, is John Richards in Hinstock, hands down. at less than 7 miles from uni, and with great customer service, especially for frequent repeat buyers, and club, (well harper adams) parts discount. and they dont even supply britpart wheelbearings anymore!!!
