  1. If you do need to split it, you can run a stanley knife down the seams so it will help the powder-coat separate cleanly.
  2. kev I replaced my steering box without having to move it. If you're fitting the new box before your engine goes in it should be a doddle to lower it in from the top.
  3. I thought most Td5's came from the factory with them fitted front and rear?
  4. A small bottle jack under the nose of the diff helps to rotate the axle and line the holes up. The chocks help minimise movement of the axle - but they do seem to end up moving. A second pair of hands is really useful - to look while you jack and rotate the wheel a bit as needed.
  5. Voila Anyone confirm if this has a one way valve on it?
  6. On my 90 is routes up into the passenger side rear wheel tub. I could probably take a picture if you think it'd be helpful?
  7. And Terrafirma copied them off Gwyn ..
  8. Careful as you go down through it then Ed. As you turn into it from the top the rear wheels ride over a raise in the rock on the righthand side and then as that wheel then drops off it means the body work falls into the rock face one the right. It only happens going down because the back wheels track to the inside when you turn. Paul de-Borde was telling me he avoided it by going very deep in before turning into the cross axle and driving to push his front wheel up onto the rock face on the otherside. Very unintuitive but probably essential on a wider vehicle. I was notified by LDNP and planning inspectorate the day the Inpector made his decision that the exceptions to the NERC were invoked. And I'd driven it 4 or 5 times in both directions prior to reading on LRO that a direction was suggested. I was aware on the day that Steve Pighills etc inspected the route with the LDNP Rangers, and a direction didn't come out of those initial suggestions - it must have come later. Paul invited me along on Sunday - but sadly I can't make it. Enjoy your drive - a lot of rock has been put into the floor of the Rock Cutting over the last month, which has made it considerably easier.
  9. Just googled Nick Mann's Morris, lots of info; its 0-100 time was 6.9 sec's & 0-150 time was 17.2 sec's when tested by Autocar in the 80's.
  10. Maybe 20 ? Years ago I remember that chap called Nick Mann built a twin turbo charged rover v8 Morris Minor. It was a well made missile iirc.
  11. West to East is the harder direction - much more likely to damage your vehicle that way.
  12. Carlos - have you been checking with multi meter as crwoody said? or around fuse 15 as Gromit said?
  13. Why? Because you get an extra 2" of compression travel .... ?
  14. Les, Sorry to hear of you loss. I'm sure everyone would agree that you don't need to apologise to anyone. and welcome back - your an asset that the forum missed imo Stephen
  15. Absolutely love your photos. Magic. I've only done the lanes further up in Wales than those - Happy Valley is probably one of the southern most - I really must fit in another few days of Welsh lanes before the years out.
  16. I wanted to know how much to pay and how to pay. No bother though.

  18. I tried to buy some slotted bushes from Haultech - but wasn't able to get enough replies from them to finish the transaction.
  19. I can always lend it back to him? and then recover it from the wreckage.
  20. I rounded the one on the head side when I did my EGR. Sadly it was the least accessible of the two allen bolts that fit into the exhaust manifold that turned out to have a head made of cheese… The allen bit just turned and rounded it out, so I tapped in a torx bit, and that just rounded it out that bit more. So I tapped in the next size and of course that rounded too. I did think about cutting the pipe to improve access and see if I could get a pair of grips on it - but then I'd be committed to getting it done and I needed the truck for work the next day. So I used a hack saw blade and started to cut a slot into the head - I had about 5-10mm of movement - so I did that until it was becoming mental torture and packed in for the night. I figured I'd drive it up to my friends, cut the pipe off, and try to weld a bolt onto the head. Next morning I thought I'd have another go with the hack saw blade and realised I'd made half decent progress the night before. So I tapped in a screwdriver bit and turned the ratchet … and it started to round off the head. Oops - running out of options. So I knocked in the largest scredriver bit I had - started to turn - it started to round … so I reveresed it and tightened it up a bit and then BINGO - it came un-done.
