I more imagined, with the ridiculous ground clearance, the car up on axle stands the size of pylons and you both sat under it with a table and chairs, drinking tea and looking for wibbily bits.
I messaged the DS Trac Axles folk - a search on their website shows some portal boxes that bolt on to Land Rover:
https://www.dstracaxles.com/products/portal-box-kit-defender-salisburg-axles?_pos=1&_sid=89007bbf2&_ss=r
ā¦ but they arenāt listed and in a message they told me they have stopped doing them, citing how weak the front axle is when you go up in tyres sizes over 37ā.
So they are doing a bolt in solution - that they say they will start offering next week.
Yes ! Everywhere I look at the moment I see massive wagons being repurposed for overlanding. Many of them old and ex service or utility vehicles.
They look pretty indestructible- but it makes me wonder what the spares market is like for them? And even where they can get in them, they look fine on a plain - but huge to take down a mountain track or into a forest.

Iāve had it on both td5ās Iāve had. I was convinced the plastic bearing carrier had something to do with it - so I put a better HD quality one on last time and it improved it a lot - it still gives a squeak when it first āwakesā up - but it is better.
LOF clutches do those now - and I notice they do a better bush. One that lubricates better - if their blurb is right it delivers up to 20 times more lubrication.

When mine have gone Iāve been able to see the plastic has melted under the load.
Just take the cowl off of the steering column and itās there š
I am a bit confused as to what you mean. Do you have a photo ?
Is the panel with the switches fitting flush to the dash ? Is it just that you canāt get the cover to fit in behind it ?
I seem to remember that there was a bit of metal framework back there, where the cutout in the lower dash panel was quite small - maybe you are catching that? How big is your switch ?
I vaguely remember filing the dash panel on mine.
Hello everyone my name is Guillaume,
I am from the south of France (Aix)
I recently bought a vehicle but it is starting to make a very weird noise (like shortness of breath in the engine)
Any ideas ?
thanks in advance
Iāve seen it done both ways - with the rationale being that recirculating the air is easier to increase its temperatureā¦ but is more prone to increased humidity.
On my 80 the inlet is on the end of the seatbox - which means with S1 panels gaps and lack of seals Iām getting a mix of fresh and recirculated air š
