  1. Ah heady days That will be the Alliquat or similar spelling, all ali chassis plus a Porker engine. Nice looker but too much rear overhang in the big dips IIRC. I joined arount 83 I think. Nige I got you by a year '58 Marc.
  2. Sorry to gloat. Just looked at my main car BM - 1 Series Diesil £35 a year 2 x V8 historic Landies Tax Free
  3. Bellhousing looks short , sure it's not a 101? Mind you th gearstick is normal? If so the racers would realy like it if it is a 101 as it is 4" shorter than a RRC bellhousing
  4. Who uses compressed Oxygen???? We are talking compressed Air here and if it was a time bomb no one would fit/sell inline oiler equipment.
  5. Good find. How many looked at the rest of the sight to see that he has/had a LR Hybrid V8?
  6. Sortd then don't ya just love it when all goes to plan.
  7. Hi Phil, You may have found out by now but just in case. To let the air out of the tank, look at the right hand end of the pipe with the outlets on it. There is a red plastic cap with a metal pin and ring on it. This is the safety pressure release valve. If you pull firmly on the ring it will let the air out, be warned the metal ring is very thin and weak. You can use the botom valve which is easier as you won't need to hold it but you may damage the thread under full pressure? Hope all is well with your kit, one of my air connectors was stiff and would not work at first but now is OK Marc.
  8. OK so there are interesting comments here. I guess that if you are the second person to make something then you get to add improvements. This aspect is one of the reasons that the first manufacturer dislikes copies, not only does the first person pay for the design he also pays for the feild trials. All the second manufaturer has to do is listen to the comments and make the changes! The alternative is to spend Millions on secret testing prior to launch which of course would kill the small market design work that is able to be designed via Forums like this. Sorry I'm not trying to start up the whole Scrapiron thing. Marc.
  9. This months Totall Off Road is carrying an advert for BJP Wheels. Link They look very familiar! What does the panel think? Are these Kosher or copies? I am not supporting or critisising, just supprised. If the Mods don't agree with this post please remove it! Marc
  10. As far as I am concerned this shows what the Gov think cameras are for. Motorway safety speed signs in central barrier only advisory. M25 variable speed limit for congestion camera enforced with 120 camera positions!! Says it all really. Marc.
  11. Sorry, UK I believe if you change the chassis for a brand new one of the same type then you retain reg. Second hand chassis Q reg. Alter the suspension mounts on the chassis (coiler) Q reg. There are plenty of SVA threads in this subject on the forum if you want to find out. Marc.
  12. Come back with loads of presents Bought pretty much everything in sight, oh and got some food To answer an earlier post, the compressor is 9.5 cfm according to the paperwork. Have to say I did not expect the spray gun, it claims to be professional quality, and looking at it the body and flask it is very good. All in all I am a very happy bunny Thanks to Aldi I now have a hobby workshop.
  13. Oh with all you eager guy's about I hope there are some left for me tonight!!
  14. A sad terrible loss to the car community. I hope that he is rembered for his creations and creativity rather than the agressive image on the Discovery Channel. A true visionary.
  15. Thats odd this was exactly what I was going to say! Might be a good move if I get cold feet and need to go missing for a while
  16. These people are kidding themselves if they think that horse or horse and carrage use will not destroy lanes. I have seen a lane that was unwalkable for years due to excesive horse use, it was only walkable once someone drove it and made some tracks to walk in. I did not see any reference to the suggestion to ban walkers from the Peak District the other year due to the damage that they cause! As was said at teh time of the Hunting ban (I'm not pro Hunting just anti anti's) once they have finnished with the Hunters they will come for the rest! Mind you I'm getting married soon and SWMBO has access to the US or Aus. It's getting more and more likely.
  17. Is this the bit that worries you? Quote from web site. "The latest news to worry ACE is that SVA will cease to be at the end of March 2009. As you will see from The Birth of ACE the SVA is a very necessary piece of legislation should you be modifying or scratch building a vehicle. The proposal is that it will be replaced with IVA. However there are no copies available for inspection nor is any public consultation needed as it will come into force due to the signing of the EU (non constitution) Treaty. This means it will simply enter our Statutes with no input from our own Government or, more specifically, the people it purports to represent. Enquiries have shown that the IVA has been looked at by VOSA and that there are currently some ‘showstoppers’ that would effectively stop home building, or modifying, as most cars would be unable to comply. For instance, the IVA would require ALL vehicles to be fitted with ABS and that the system should be certified, by the manufacturer, as being suitable for its application! VOSA are keen to have the support of all those who SVA currently affects to enable a usable system to replace SVA. However, it appears fairly obvious that the test will become more stringent and there is the possibility that the class structure may be broken down more, with increasing levels of regulations to meet." This sounds bad?
  18. Hi Geoff, I bought a Road Angel Adventurer at Xmass. It is the same as the 7000 but waterproof plus has MMv5 included. All is fine except the licence I have a 25k digital map that I can load into MM when it is not registered but as soon as you regisiter it you cannot load it. It's a bit of a dodgy deal if you ask me, you try it unrgistered with all features locked except Import. Then you register it (you cannot take it back to the shop once registered so the shop said) and find that the one feature you liked is now going to cost more to use! MM Sales were very useful. I asked them about the chance of converting RA to use grid ref for locations in the navigation mode even though RA is not their product. The salesman suggested how to use a marker on a OS map to identify the destination by a name then import that to RA which should see the marker in navigation mode. Not tried it yet. By the way RA has a couple of quirks in navigation mode, although it re-routes very quickly if you take a different turn than planned it does hang on to the last roundabout on the original route which means that it will take you past the destination to get to the roundabout then come back down the same road to the end! Also it is not good with Postal Codes, once it took me past the road to the desired destination, went around the block (2 miles) and stopped next to where I wanted to be (on top of a hill when I wanted to be in the valley) but with no way of getting to it! Great I can see it but am no better off!
  19. Hmm. Not sure that I agree with all the comments. I have a recording of my mates 289ci Mustang on tickover. It sounds much the same and the same volume but it has a full road legal exhaust. I put it down to a lumpy cam as the motor was tuned for street racing. Cherry Bombs, personally I have hated them from the first time I heard a V8 with them, personal shoice I know. My experience is that lots of people fit separate exhausts for each bank of cylinders. Lots of noise and not always very good at flowing the gasses? My Series 1 has cast manifolds as thats all that fits with a siamese "Y" pipe. the rest is a 2.5 - 3" straight pipe through the PTO holes in the chassis and right at the end a straight through expansion box. Even though there is not a single baffle in the entire systems thing is it's not noisy the "Y" join as per RRC etc. evens out the pulses and helps the motor flow the gasses. Even though it is quiet it will set off car alarms on tickover
  20. On mine I use the edge of a ordinary spanner. One side is angled so it has a curve that fits the slot and the width is perfect too. Marc
  21. Don't know about Stombergs but SU HIF you can adjust the mixture with a screw not factory set only? This proved very usefull to me on both my V8 Land Rovers but might not be important to you as I had changed my exhuast systems from standard. Marc.
  22. This may not be relevant (if so sorry and ignore) I have a 4 speed RRC gearbox which decided not to disengage the clutch and had a foot to floor pedal experience. Upon investigation the Master Cyl is good, the Salve Cyl is good and the pipework is good with no leaks (preasure tested by locking the Slave Cyl Piston movement. What wasn't good was that the travel needed to disengage the clutch was more than the Slave Cyl could provide. I assume that this is due to clutch wear though it has a new release bearing. In the end I bodged it until such time as I rebuild it (two Slave Cyl pistons in one Slave Cyl did the trick. Curerntly all works fine for now. This is not the best option but as the landy is only a weekend motor it has avoided removing the gearbox or engine again for a while. Marc.
  23. Mmmmmm, Be nice to make a Truck Trial special if I had the space Well that would be my vapour build proposal
  24. I obviously can't get the hang of attaching pictures as the first one apears twice or is that just gratuatous picture porn on my part Anyway the top (and bottom) pic is my kind of Valentines heart, missus please take note!
  25. Hi Nige, I have just re-read a copy of Classic Ford with an article on Simpson Race Exhuast (SRE) in Slough. The quality looks fab but probably aren't cheap. http://www.simpsonraceexhausts.com/
