  1. But would this make the rear prop too short to be practical? Pete.
  2. Just a wild idea at the moment, but as the Discovery is disolving faster than I can weld new bits of metal in, I am looking to replace it with something else but keep the engine and gearbox. I was wondering if this conversion (300TDI/Autbox/LT230 I would use the coiler axles but convert them to fit the chassis) has been done on an 88" Series or is it going to lead to a too short rear prop? Pete.
  3. Just to add to this, I used to run 31X10.5/15 on modular wheels on mine and found that I had to trim the rear of the rear arches (camel cut) and the end caps of the front bumper. Pete.
  4. I wouldn't necessarily disagree with this statement apart from the fact that the pins for the adjusters don't allow the shoes to be fitted any differently. As yet haven't tried the brakes in anger, but the pedal is now correct and consistant. Issue seems to have mainly been caused by a certain manufacturers cheap chocolate adjuster components. Pete.
  5. Is there a definate reason for that or is it just convention? As the problem is the same which ever way they are plumbed. Pete.
  6. I know I can answer this for myself in a half hour when I get to the unit, but how many adjusters does the rear brakes have? Pete.
  7. I have 255/85x16 on modular wheels mine (with wheel spacers to keep the steering lock) and the arches cut and flexi's fitted, but only a 1" lift and the rear wheels rub the rear of the arch when the axle is articulated. Pete.
  8. From the link in the tech archive Click here for spring Info and scroll down. Police spec/ HD rangie rears are red/whites (NRC4034), I dont know what the fronts are. Pete
  9. Mine currently locks up at approx 47 mph but that is with a 1.4:1 transfer case rather than the standard 1.22:1 and 33" tyres. When I had 31" tyres it was a bit lower at around 43 mph. However I suspect that on standard 29" tyres you will find the gearing to low using a 1.4:1 transfer box. Pete.
  10. Both Loctite 266 and 272 are listed as being high temperature (232C/ 450F). Info from here and here . Pete. edit to add. 246 is also high temp. here Pete
  11. I guess you are looking for an exhuast manifold gasket :- Paddocks link Hope this helps Pete
  12. Nige, As I was bored I did a quick google search and found this company. might be worth a call. Pete.
  13. If I understand correctly you are fitting a Discovery 300TDi rear axle with the three bolt flange to a Defender 300TDi that uses a 4 bolt flange. In which case you won't need a new propshaft, just change the flange as described above. However if the axle is staying on the Discovery, when you change to the 4 bolt flange, you would need to replace the propshaft as well so that it has the correct 4 bolt flange from a 200TDi Discovery. I hope this helps Pete.
  14. The bearing is none adjustable and allegedly not replaceable. So yes a new cover will be the simplest but not cheapest solution. I have a cover that I have removed the bearing from, but have so far been un-able to source a new bearing. Pete.
  15. I suspect sending Fridefreezer a pm would be a good idea as I believe he can supply most of what you need to do the conversion including the ECU. Pete.
  16. This thread may help diagnose the issue. Click Here Pete.
  17. Something like this plus the activation magnet would work but you will need a small relay between it and the rest of the circuit as it can only take 0.5A. Alternatively this Pete.
  18. I am running a wide angle 300TDi Defender front prop (TVB100610) on the front of my 300TDi Discovery with no problems. Pete.
  19. Located as shown above. Adjust the left hand stop to stop the right hand tyre rubbing and right hand stop to stop the left hand rubbing. and be aware that there is a lock nut on the wheel end of the stop bolt which needs undoing first. oh and be prepared for at least one of them to snap. Pete.
  20. The existing holes are tubed to stop the chassis crushing. You may be able to get wide Jate rings that will allow the towbar to be retained. Pete.
  21. Just to be clear the photo's in the thread linked to by Cipx2 show the bracket that is used with the EDC pump adapted ,via the studding, to fit around a mechanical pump from when I junked the EDC. Pete.
  22. Did anyone mention it's a bit steep 1st time at a challenge event and I couldn't stay all that long. Looks like fun some of my photo's :- Pete.
  23. Tech archive is your friend. :- Clicky. Pete.
  24. Suits me, haven't been to unit much myself, although the Megajolt loom is now a proper one rather the lash up it used to be. Oh and you have a Robin nesting in your Nuts. Pete.
