  1. So, 1985 90.... Really dim low beam headlights, where should I start looking.... my mind says it's not the earth as main beam are bright..... Ta
  2. I realise it's a different box. But the first to second shift on my lt77 is awkward. What I've discovered is that second is not directly below first. You have to push left on the lever. Maybe this is partly why a wiggle in neutral helps? ???
  3. If rear prop is spinning when not in difflock. Then it's either a rear shaft. Or diff..... which type axle do you have? ... if Salisbury then it's almost certainly a shaft. ..
  4. Last time I spoke to nor they were still a spare time business. .. so replies to messages might take a while. ....
  5. Try putting it in a higher gear............ ie, less engine revolutions per wheel revolution.... meaning the engine has to turn less to hopefully be to the point of cracking the nut off........ when it gets on tension, belt the socket bar with a mallet or something to shock it....
  6. My capilliary gauge fits in the same hole as the standard gauge, and looks pretty good.... and it was only about £35 or so, and its no based on electrics, so even if you look at it with ignition off etc you can still see what the engine temp is..........
  7. I fitted a capillary gauge..... £35 odd and it tells me exactly what's going on.......
  8. Thanks guys..... might swap it tomorrow if there are bizarrely more than 24hrs in the day. ....
  9. Many thanks. .... already ordered sumo bars and damper bracket in readiness. .....
  10. I have a 90 with a six bolt box, which has just sprung a fairly substantial leak... i have a 4 bolt sat on the garage floor waiting, can someone confirm that it's literally a straight swap.... ie, same threads on the input output pipes etc...... i don;t want to get half way through the job and get scuppered............ Thanks.
  11. Why not buy modulars in 7inch flavour with a zero offset, I do alrc rtv trials with 235 85's..... I have the maximum possible turning circle.... the caliper hits the axle before the tyre hits the radius arm.....
  12. I use a vacuum bleeder that works off the compressor, and sucks the fluid through..... never failed yet....
  13. 300 axles will physically fit wether on a 90 or 110, however discovery 300 rear axles come with a three pronged flange on the differential, this needs changing to a four bolt one, v8 discovery did not have a 4pin diff. The only thing is, that it's claimed that the standard rover axle isn't rated for the rear of a 110, not all 110's were fitted with Salisbury rear axle, so they must have done something to the rover axle to allow it to be fitted on the back of the 110.... No idea what though!
  14. I would advise using a Stanley type knife to remove the screen, obviously from outside...... at least you won't break the screen getting it out!
  15. Could be wheel bearing or any number of things, if it's a high pitched squeak, also check the propshaft joints!
  16. Are all the bleed nipples at the top of the calipers??..... I have a bleeding tool that sucks the fluid through, its brilliant, never failed yet, but I would also advise a few pedal pumps whilst doing it....
  17. Why do you need those arms??.... I have about a 2inch lift with no castor correction and it's fine....
  18. Easier and ultimately safer is to get a pair of wider arms, that way you know its centred up correctly.....
  19. Oh I see, best solution is an angle grinder then!
  20. You're trying to undo the wrong ones, there are four 13mm bolts, or 8 10mm bolts dependent on vehicle age, undo those and fit your spacers between the sliding rails and seatbox, not between the rails and seat.....
  21. My recent experience of all makes wasn't so good, I ordered a complete set of springs/shocks from a very close supplier to them, they sent him two boxes, sadly both rears, it can't be that difficult can it??....
  22. I removed the head rest, which helped sightly, my head is above them anyway so they'll never be any benefit!
  23. From what I can tell, the cat version is different, the downpipe is one piece, not three, and the outlet is more inboard, where as the non cat is actually quite tight to the chassis......
  24. Forget buying just the case, get a complete axle, it'll be less agro....
