No , I haven't got around to a build thread , partly because all the pic's I did take during the build are prints from 35mm . I do have a scanner now so maybe will do one sometime .

The body is 6.5" wider than a std series , effectively making it the same outside width as an RRC , normally removing the screen centre bar can be covered with one extra wiper . I never bash my elbow on the door .
Sorry Carlos , getting a bit adrift here , your pics are certainly interesting as there are significant differences between the two sides in terms of how one would build it
cheers

...a bit more faded now , but yeah that's mine .
............and waaay back when I hit 21 my Mum got a song on local radio for me to celebrate my 21st

It seems you know me pretty well Jon

Hey Dave
The RRC and Discovery Tdi turbo and manifolds are the same , as in the pic from hangover . The defender turbo is right on top of the engine.
The RRC/Disco vee belt layout is crank - waterpump - PAS pump which tensions this belt then a short thinner vee belt from the second groove on the PAS pulley to the alt. - the alt. then swings to tension .
For pics you should be able to upload from your puta if you use the reply to this topic button at the top of the page there is an option to upload from your own files , I'm sure someone more software savvy will be able to explain that better

My primary concern with starting a tdi that has been unstarted for some time , with fuel lines disconnected would be the IP internals getting stuck and it going to full throttle......
Having had this happen a few times now ,once resulting in self fuelling on engine oil from stone cold I now have all turbo to inlet pipework disconnected and also engine breather pipes removed too and a handy bung to block the inlet manifold should it go and not stop on the solenoid.
Have look on the Glencoyne www for non intercooled tdi installs , and yes apart from the above risk , there is no problem starting and running at tick over

Hi Daan
On the 200 the joint between the flywheel housing and the block is oil-side and the heavy wax paper gasket gets hard from heat and fails , s it may be worth popping it off and replacing it ?
cheers
Steveb
anything with a Bosch VE pump will have it , the turbo end is just a tee piece into the waste gate line so a local breaker should have something you can cobble together, it is only 12 psi or so . And yes it will make a massive difference to the driveability
cheers

Re-check the level , those are classic symptoms of low oil . It should be running in park or neutral with the handbrake on , having first selected D and R to ensure the valve body is full
cheers
Steveb
That intercooler looks pretty messed up so a replacement would be good , my take would be std . The leak from the down pipe joint may well be connected to the steady bracket that bolts the down pipe to the bottom of the block being broken or not fitted .

Steveb
Yep , almost certainly a scam , a while ago there were lots of Unimog ad's on Ebay for older models at low prices , all copies of genuine ad pics from other sites . Iirc it seemed to be based around a large Scottish city

How many bolts in the flange ? 7 would suggest later 10 spline - metric - the early RRC where 6 bolt and iirc UNF threads, not sure which year it changed , maybe mid 80's. All the RRC swivels have taper roller king pin bearings to and bottom - make sure your steering damper is up to the job !
As for the CV bearing I think it should be a sintered tophat type bush ?
cheers
Steveb
Yep Western , that's correct , I suggest the rubber boot is just pushed up the ball pin . If it seated correctly and tightened up then all should be good .
cheers
Steveb
Indeed , ta Das , I do think the FC could have been made more of , maybe with a bit of engineering to up the payload. All very interesting history.
Cheers
Steveb
What wheelbase is that prototype Das ?
It also appears to have std. Series rims and 7.50's ? That suggests it may have a std. series transfer box gearset .
cheers
Steveb
...I recall someone in the Breckland LROC many years ago talking of building an 88 WB FC , I wonder if this is it ?
Are there any more pic's ?
cheers
Steveb
Welcome to the forum Nicky
It sounds like you have lost rear drive , pull the halfshafts to check for broken shafts , also check drive members are still engaged to the outer splines . Failing that it will probably be the diff planet gear pin and/or planet gears broken , assuming it has the Rover rear axle . Some pic's of the truck would be nice .
cheers
Steveb
Do you have any axle pic's ? , as it's likely to have ENV or Salisbury which are a wider track than the std Series , The front panel where the HL's are looks to be a IIA from the HL position . Another part which is often missing / bodged is the gear linkage housing . The steering box is another FC only item - different length column iirc
There have been a couple go through Ebay lately at around £2.5 k un restored and/or in bits
cheers

About time , it's been out of control for years , it's quads and scramblers as much as 4x4 drivers . There also seems to be a trend for 'laning / trespass at night which just adds to the building negative image of greenlaning
.....the local lanes that have voluntary TRO's on through winter are still used and abused by some . The lack of consideration for the lanes , local farmers/ residents will only add to the close 'em all campaign
