  1. Yeah it is certainly a rare find and I have not yet seen another new one let alone a range rover one in any condition. I think I will go onto a few American Forums to see if its of interest to them and then make a worldwide ebay listing once I have sorted out shipping. Any advice on which sites on the American side are likely to be most receptive? All the best Ryck
  2. Dear All It is coming to the time in my Undergraduate studies where I have to start planning for a dissertation for my Degree in Geography with Environmental Management Bsc at Exeter. I have decided to do something on laning both its impacts and also peoples perceptions towards its sustainability. I have chosen to centre my quantitative research on the Wayfarer in North Wales around the Sleeper section and other management that the lane has had. Such that I will have 2 major threads to my piece. - Is the current sleeper method of mitigation towards the section that gets washed out effective. - A wider survey looking at user groups opinions towards this mitigation method and if its felt to be suitable/effective. This piece is not going to look at whether there is s "right" or not for recreational 4x4 use in the countryside as that’s a legal matter and also a very large can of worms. This is a scientific research piece. At this current stage I am preparing my proposal so any input on documents/council plans that are there would be greatly appreciated so I can build a history of the maintenance on the lane as well as other wider examples of works/papers to add into the dissertation. Also if anyone has any images of the lane dated from over the last 5 years that they would be willing to let me see/use within the dissertation that would be greatly appreciated. The images would be all put under your copyright and number plates etc removed. I am planning a trip in late march to look at the site to ensure that my methodologies are appropriate before I get to far into the process. I am aware there is a TRO currently on the lane for works, does anyone know when this is likely to be lifted? I am also going to be making contact with the local CC but if I remember correctly several members on here are also involved with groups such as GLASS (where this will also be posted under my user on there), CRAG and Tread lightly so I would be interested in hearing from all those parties for input into this as user groups. Thank you for reading and if anyone has any questions/comments/advice from their undergraduate days please get in touch. All the best Ryck
  3. From what I remember the ST is a relatively soft compound tyre so wear rates are comparably high. Further if my memory serves me correctly it is being phased out now/very soon for a replacement model which may be in the style of the new General AT. Personnaly I would look at the AT2 as I don't think BFG ATs go upto your size last time I looked. Or the newer one espically if you are going to be spending more time on road
  4. I would assume that it would given that its the same motor and fundamentally pretty simiar I would guess. However I am sure that one of the more experianced members with these things would be able to clarify. Soren - Yes brand spanking new been in the loft for some years I can say.
  5. Does it have an anti roll bar on the back as these like mine can get bent around so one link is pointing up and the other down. This caused my car to sit off level for a while until I figured it out. All the best Ryck
  6. There is a new form of AT for larger wheel sizes from General that came out a few months ago. I don't know how they perform but I believe they were designed to work with TC and be better on road. Cheers Ryck
  7. No they are different lengths from what I remember so I think you will need a differeing length of bell housing to what you have currently. If I'm correct it will need to be a longer one as the Lt77 is a shorter box than the R380 but I am sure someone will be along to clarify that. All the best Ryck
  8. Fraid Millers Tyre Centre in Malvern are out as well, we tried them earlier this week and they do not know when they are going to get anymore in from their suppliers.
  9. Dear All. I am currently trying to help pops to source a new set of BFG KM2s in 235/85 R16 for his defender however all of the local and internet suppliers that we know are currently out of stock and awaiting them on back order due to the increased demand of Christmas for new rubber. Does anyone know where we may be able to source 4 or 5 of these tyres either to be posted to Worcestershire or to be fitted locally in around Worcestershire/Birmingham. All the best Ryck
  10. Blast - So I have to make sure I get seals specific to the 5 door version and not for the 3 door version?
  11. As above. Are the seals for the rear boot side windows the same on the 3 door tdi's and the 5 door tdi's or did landrover actually decide to do work and make them different? Cheers Ryck
  12. Hi Guys. I need the part number for the large webbered style hose that takes the air from the airfilter box to the turbo area on a 200tdi. Its about a foot long and a couple of inches in diameter as mine is blowing under load. Also for the smaller diameter long one over the top to the other side of the rocker cover so I can deal with that at the same time. Cheers Ryck
  13. That and coupled to the fact that it faces forwards so with its angle it's open to a lot of road and off road going **** that we all travel through.
  14. I rather like the silver 90 and actually think the wheel and tyre combo work well there (retracts neck). However I don't like the plastic front lights pod things and think that a good set of light guards and an a-bar would work much better. As for the new whatever its called who cares
  15. Pictures/how to post - waiting keenly
  16. In a nutshell I would say no. TD5 body is much heavier than that of the tdi models so you will be underpowered and the auto box setup will not work with the 200tdi motor very well as mentioned above. D2 rear axles use a watts linkage rather than an A frame so adaption will be needed. Personnally I would sell your D1 for parts i.e. engine/gearbox/axles and then use that cash to put the D2 on LPG, job done.
  17. Agreed the 200tdi belt designer was a clear either stoned or Mildly miffed or both when thinking up such a system. But it is very simple and even when the belts get loose and slip they do still work. 300tdi however if the tensioner goes/starts to like what has happened to dads then you have a much more urgent issue than a few loose belts and an awkward adjustment. I think for toughness I would take a 200tdi setup, for everyday refinement then yes a 300tdi style setup does have the edge.
  18. Luckily I am at an age where my increase in experiance means that its come down every year so far for my discovery but I don't reckon I will get much more of a reduction this coming year. Last August when I renewed I really have to work AF down by fiddling with the policy and removing a few features that I have little use and am covered elsewhere by. Try adjusting the excess and also seeing what features you already have from elsewhere. I was able to knock £200 off by moving my excess up and loosing 2 small packages that I had from other suppliers anyway. Cheers
  19. Likewise, Lockheed where a supplier of a fair few parts to LR and can often be had in their own packaging for a lot less than needing the flash L.R box. Could you also refurb your calipers instead? kits are good value these days.
  20. I would renew them now in the nice confines of the workshop rather than out there in the middle of nowhere. As said it may well be worth looking to upgrade to a heavy duty overland version with a larger piston rod diameter and a greater oil capacity to cope with the extra demands of the environment that I am assuming is not going to be great for cooling. It may also be a good time to renew any bushes that are looking suspect and larger service items like your A-frame joint that require a press. For replacement shocks I would say to look at OME (Often a first choice) or the newer big bore terrafirma units that are getting a good write up. That depends on your support in Oman though. Cheers Ryck
  21. Personnally I would keep stum about those 2 vehicles espically if they are not in a running condition anyway. As for your vehicle to send to P&P days if it is trailered and SORN then nothing will change that I can see. You can still take it from your drive to the site and back on the trailer and you would still be commiting an offence if you drove it on the road at any point but now it will be a double of no tax and no insurance. I think the key here is if in doubt then SORN the car, its not a complex system and will avoid plod turning up with a ticket when the cars in a highly road worthy garage rebuild state All the best Ryck
  22. For deciding upon your winch I have been thinking about getting one to do the same level of work in the next 6 months or so and am probably going to go down either a Goodwinch Goldfish as I have head very good things about them or the new champion one here http://www.mm-4x4.com/c9500-hs-champion-winch---6-hp-motor---excellent-high-speed-performance-3744-p.asp I think something around 9500 and 5hp will do well and the key to me is for it to be waterproof as sitting out there on the front all exposed coupled with my liking for fords isnt the best setup :L Cheers Ryck
  23. Born Lucky! sounds like you got a steal there! Must say at the prices I have seen OME kits for in the states compared to here I think my next kit will be coming from over the pond, hmmm how much is my luggage allowance back home in April now.... Cheers
  24. Its is pain in the ****. However thinking about it at least LR didn't do what fiat did for my punto front headlight and put a fuse box right behind where you popped the back of the headlight off
  25. I use morris lubricants that all my local LR specialists and pretend specialists stock in small, large and really large drums as well. May be worth contacting morris direct if you are after a drum sized purchase?
