I once leaned the bonnet on my series 2 against the windscreen. The wind blew it back down and, whilst my head wasn't underneath, I did try to catch it ! Doh ! the pain as the bonnet slammed on my fingertips was excruciating ! Needless to say, I haven't propped a bonnet against the windscreen since I've also had a 90 bonnet disappear over the top of my old 90 at 70 mph, an interesting experience but that's another story Mo

I wondered if you may have overtightened them, principle of levers and all that but I can't offer an alternative except to say that when I did mine, I tightened them up, then gave them two further tweaks. Not very scientific I'm afraid but the didn't come loose and none snapped HTH Mo

78Nm is going to snap the bolt ! This little chart offers a very rough guide to bolt torques that can be used when no figures are available. HTH Mo

I've never found this to work very well TBH since by the time you've adjusted the play out, you get a tight spot elsewhere in the rotation. By the time you've backed off the tight spot on the adjuster you're back to square 1 with the play. HTH Mo
