  1. The connection to the glow plug rail had burnt out on my Transit TDCi as well.
  2. My Ford Transit Connect van had exactly the same issue (1.8tdci) The fault was glow plugs, three of the four were open circuit.
  3. From the diagram above it looks like they come with a fuel tank.
  4. I am guessing that he means the clutch. The kit makes it so light that you can press it with one finger. http://www.redbooster.com/
  5. One way to murder the value of a Land Rover l guess. Unless it’s for a specific purpose as above with Zimlandy’s l wouldn’t go there.
  6. I think you are pretty much on your own with this, as it’s not something that many people will have ever done. But the steel liner sounds a good idea.
  7. Original parts all the way The OE door seals are a joy to fit, with only your tears at the cost to spoil the moment.
  8. It is true that Ebay prices for Defenders can be a bit silly. But if you refine the search to “sold” then many are relisted time and time again. Also our local lndy gets very good prices for their stock, as there’s nobody else round here selling them. But it was one of the guys there who told me that at the auctions they can’t buy anything worth selling for under about £5k.
  9. I turned down a swap with my Lotus Elise for a Ferrari 308 GT4 in 2011 valued at £15,000 The Lotus is now worth about £18,000. The Ferrari? £70,000
  10. Mad prices for Defenders/Land Rovers My local dealer just sold a derelict 300tdi for £4,000 Chassis gone, doors corroded, bulkhead shot, interior like a rats nest. Running but no MOT requires full restoration l think there’s some crazy buying right now, with people jumping on anything Defender shaped. l mean, there’s thousands out there, they are not rare. I can understand it to a point with TDCi as they are still pretty new. And early series 1 as they are classics. But the older ones, before long they’ll be Ferrari money the way it’s going.
  11. How does it drive? That’s the important thing, if it drives well then l guess the engine is fine for your 110.
  12. I looked at the screen seal on my 110 and it looks like it’s been trimmed to size and then the join (in the centre along the lower edge of the screen) has been sealed with some sort of black sealant.
  13. So if l see an “all OEM” Defender service kit at £49 Containing air filter, both oil filters and fuel filter, these are not Land Rover parts? ln which case what make could they be? I recently bought an “Allmakes” rotor filter and the quality was so poor l put the old one back in and bought a LR one at five times the price.
  14. Well l guess you could strip the lot out as above, obviously l was joking about the steering wheel but if you plan to move that forwards then you must be pretty serious about it. You might want to line the bulkhead with carpet or rubber mat to make it look a bit better and cover any sharp edges. l suppose a fuel gauge and speedometer is all you really need. The lights/windscreen wiper switches are on the steering column so no need to find a place for those.
  15. I can’t imagine this being a great idea for the very small amount of extra room it would create. The pre-TDCi Defender/Land Rover has a pretty minimalist dashboard as standard. The best improvement would be made by removing the steering wheel/column, but then you’d only be able to drive in straight lines, could work in the African Savanna l suppose.
  16. Did you hit the front wheel in the accident? The steering rack could be bent or the steering box damaged. Or the swivel ball joint.
  17. Can anybody recommend a spray on black underseal that will actually come out of the tin? Just for small patches on the underside of my 110, where it has come off. The ”Waxoyl” one l bought is a waste of time, it just splutters and dribbles on to your hand.
  18. Well, the O/P hasn’t been back since Sept 2016 so we will never find out what was wrong with his, or whether he fixed it.
  19. I am also thinking of installing a high ratio transfer box in my 110 TD5. Can you report back when you have fitted it? I have been told that it makes reverse/first gear fairly high. Although first gear could be higher for me, as l only use the vehicle on road.
  20. Is there anti freeze in the coolant? It may have frozen and cracked the head. Also did you put some fresh fuel in?
  21. It sounds nice but original ones sell for more. Some photos will help to estimate a value, can you post a couple?
  22. I think Britpart sell head gaskets in packs of ten.
  23. The TD5 can be tuned to deliver well over 200bhp.
  24. Good work on getting better after your stroke. The Defender will probably start first time if you put a new battery on. But you’ll want to give the brakes and running gear a once over, change all the oils and brake/clutch fluid. check the tyres for cracks etc (they should be alright if it’s been stored in the dark) As long as the garage was dry you should be OK.
