  1. There is no way that if that made it into production the defender brand will live . Doesn't have any of what makes the Defender great, its ugly, no way of making 101 different bodies and it doesnt have the 'I could drive around the world' feel that it does now. I don't see why they can't just update the engine with a new, cleaner one, and be done with it?! And if they went to the trouble of getting airbags (and anything else needed) fitted, they could sell to the US and I'm sure they would make a killing. Oh and different engine options would be nice, and an auto option.
  2. The other thing I have found quite good, but not on the same level as the brake cleaner is to use Paraffin.
  3. I seem to end up using cans of halfords brake cleaner, or something similar. Isopropanol Alcohol that we have at work, works great .
  4. It uses electrolysis... This uses electricity which has to come from somewhere. So the engine is making energy, to make energy, to give it energy back? You don't get something from nothing!!
  5. I have only built it as a finished item, so I don't have any models and therefore drawings as a blank. Not sure how I would 'unfold' it to get the blank as I'm not sure how much dimensions will change when folded. Can't fold ali in a vice and have it look good . The tart in me wants it to look good, the simple and neat design from a single piece is what satisfies that. I hadn't thought about perspex... will have a think about it .
  6. Had a birds nest in the rear crossmember of my 90 after it not moving throughout christmas .
  7. Had a birds nest in the rear crossmember of my 90 after it not moving throughout christmas .
  8. It does, because it gives the coppers something to look at. They will still check with the database and if that returns nothing they will ring the insurers themselves.
  9. Sorry its taken me so long to look, I can't see it in my pile. But a friend used to subscribe, and I think still does so he might have one. I will ask him!
  10. I've designed a mount for using my netbook in the truck, the only problem being I don't have any access to the machinery required to make it. So what I'm after is someone on here who has experience in sheet metal work with Ali and has the tools to make a nice job, who I can send the CAD model too and they post me back the finished article! Beer tokens are available . It is all made from 4mm Ali. The attached picture is a screen-shot from Catia of the mount: EDIT: forgot to mention, if there is any chance it can be with me by the 23rd for the Seven sisters trip, it would be GREAT
  11. Its hardly a good idea for him to post up what he is now doing to it... incase the scum are reading.
  12. Euro Ncap? Euro 1,2,3,4,5 are all ratings for emissions not crash safety, so therefor not related to Ncap . Sadly one of the options mentioned to abandon the model .
  13. Find your local Bearmach dealer, as they do a pack of 3 different thicknesses.
  14. I would not drive on that at all unless you take the prop and the rear shafts. With the pinion bearing now basically non existant, there is the possibility of the pinion jamming the diff. My front diff did the same last year. It only went about half a mile from my house thankfully, so I drove it back. But pulling onto the drive (gravel), it locked the front wheels!
  15. If the front is spinning, it is very likely that there is something broken on the rear and therefor all power is going to the front (as you're in difflock). Vibrations and noises also like to travel and trick you
  16. As you say the front was spinning, this points to something in the rear broken. Either a shaft or the diff its self. If it was me, I would jack the rear axle up one side at a time (to stop the oil coming out), and pull each shaft out one by one. If they are complete you know that the shafts are OK and that its the diff that has failed.
  17. Try here steve: Simmonites New take off's. There was a trader at billing selling silver ones, but I can't remember which one. (and my show guide is upstairs ).
  18. I'd love to, but alas I'm rather poor at the moment. Seven Sisters trip will be a stretch!!
  19. With mine I have Qt guards, so I just use a short 1/2" drive extension to get the ratchet to clear the guard
  20. Its the warm and 'stagnant' properties of the washer bottle that make them great for things to grow.
  21. Carpet glue all over it, and then stick it on! glue it all over and not just patches.
  22. Thats what I meant, the weight transfer making the truck tip forward.
  23. What about some sort of antiroll bar type thing, but working between say, axles 1 and 4, should stop the tendency to want to roll forward and make the brake bias setting up a bit easier?
