  1. My 2003 D2 sales brochure makes no mention of diff-lock in any of the models in that model year.
  2. Supply, fuse, switch, bulb & earth have u checked those with your meter ?
  3. I should have looked at my 97/98 disco sales brochures. Six wheels are listed: Steel. Freestyle Castor with the square spokes rounded inwards (P38 ish) Sculptured, Silver or Duo-tone as fitted to some of 98MY D1s. Freestyle Dished similar to Sculptured but in silver and with square spokes and a rounded shape cut into the spoke. Tornado Duo-done which are fitted to my disco and as shown in JimDay pic above.
  4. And I always thought mine were Freestyle, the deep dish style I know were fitted to the 1998MY.
  5. The name of your wheels is Freestyle, Tornado has the flat spokes.
  6. That's right Mr BogMonster. Spots with the narrow beam but a longer range, Driving a wider beam and a bit shorter in range and Fog with the flat top beam and a very short range. Just like the rally cars of the black & white days that had both spots and driving lamps side by side on their grills.. Aux lamps are not seen now on vehicles in the UK, 90/110 + Def +D1s yes, D2s maybe and the rest of 4x4s around and non 4x4s NA...
  7. I have Hella driving lamps, I don't like the narrow beam from spots, but other than the black plastic case at the rear has weathered a bit sun that good as the day I got my disco 14+ years ago.
  8. At it's launch the 1995MY 300 series model line up in the UK was Base, S and ES. 1996MY had the Base, S, XS and ES. 1997 was the same as 1996MY and then with 1998MY the S model was replaced with the GS. There's no doubt your disco with it's steel wheels and with out the side decals was the Base model but which had a long option list available, allowing the customer to choose what they required, alloy wheels, sunroofs, high end radio, front fogs etc etc. the option list didn't go as far as leather seats. Contact the DVLA and find out the previous owner/s, it may give u an idea of what the vehicle was use for, it may have been a reps car or used on a factory site.
  9. When mine jammed I pulled so hard I broke the T handle, but it opened as soon as the extra hands were placed on the bonnet. I only use the inner when replacing as there is a bit more work replacing the whole cable, so a well greased inner and a splash of engine oil on the lock and I haven't had this problem again, 9 years now.
  10. You have had an extra pair of hands pressing down on the bonnet while u pull hard the release, haven't u?
  11. When I reinsure my disco online I just enter the reg number and it the shows 1997 Discovery ES V8 7 seats or similar, what's the problem as I've never had one.
  12. If your engine is running right the should be only laquer on the workings which injection cleaner will remove, but if u do remove the valve to clean it with something like brake cleaner, you will require a replacement fiber sealing washer as it can easly break when carring out the removal.
  13. A blocked crankcase breather and it's hose to the plenum can have this affect as I found out once ,so simple things first like sticking some Redex or similar into the fuel may also help, seems to work for me as i have had any such problem for years, it's the Supermarket fuel I believe. Then getting deaper into it, its checking the idle control valve is clean and base idle is correct. You will have to enlighten me on what a " RTS sensor" is.
  14. More info required.... are u saying the selector cable requires adjusting? How can an auto jump out of gear? there are only two gears you can select, 1st in postion 1 and reverse. Positions 2 3 and D the box selects a suitable gear within that band.
  15. It did when it left the factory if you have a V8 ES, the link above is fo a Td5 engine D2.
  16. Between the vacuum pump and the throttal actuator there is a short length of rubber hose, this may have become detached or perished so worth a check.
  17. I assume u have a 'facelift' D2 as it's a known problem with them. They already have venting fitted but sometimes it doesn't work on one or the other lamps. Funny but removing the oneway vent and leaving it out cures the problem, and although it's not there, according to owners that have done it, rain water doesn't enter into the lamp. Try it and see, of course if u have the early glass lamps then the glass sealing is iffy, so resealing or better still replace the lamp.
  18. OK with 'D' selected the vehicle starts in 2nd, RAVE states the possible faults are 1st and 2nd shift valve sticking or Governor sleeve sticking.
  19. Does this sound something like your problem this is what Ashcroft s say. Q. I have a 4sp ZF, when I select "D" the vehicle won't move, when I select "1" the vehicle moves off. I can then select "D" and continue to drive normally. If I stop I have to start in first again. Why? A. A sprag clutch has "inverted" and will need replacing. No further damage will occur if you continue to drive but you will need to select "1" every time to start moving. A rebuild is required to correct this
  20. This fact that has been mentioned in the LR forums by D1 tdi owners, that the auto box is not a good match to the diesel engine and the manual box is better, even LR thought that by giving the 300 EDC would help out... so unless u prefer a lazy drive etc etc go for manual and if you don't do "lazy" get a different engine.
  21. You can't miss them if they are there. On a D1 they are held by thin metal brackets just below the bonnet hinges, although i wouldn't be suprised if on a D2 the have been moved.
  22. Idle speed to high when selecting D, but then if you transimssion has some wear then who knows you may have live with it. But disco didn't leave the showroom with clonks, it doesn't matter what anybody says it shouldn't.
  23. CRD100650 is the glass to use for a 300 series disco, STC4625 is the adaptor but is a RRC part No. disco is STC2920 but both look similar but u may not require it if yours is still servicable.
  24. So the sunroof could be still be leaking then.
  25. The remedy is sort out one or both of the seals and both manual or electric sunroofs are the same, only the method of opening and closing is different.
