  1. If most of your usage is limited to getting unstuck, then Maxtrax are worth looking at. They work very well.
  2. mm or degrees, minutes, seconds??? These are two entirely different measurements. One for angles and the other for distance. If you are going to use distance, you need to be certain what you are measuring from and how far out from the point of origin. The further away, the longer the distance between the true centre and where your tyre is pointing, but you may already be accurate in your settings. If you are using distance, then it is from the centre of the wheel and the distance from it is irrelevant.
  3. Take them to a spring maker and have them reset (heat set, not cold). If they are not reusable (if there is insufficient good metal left) the workshop manual will contain information on what to make.
  4. Couple more things, for future readers to look for: The quality of language use at the start is markedly different from the end (different people wrote parts) Writer talks about working long hours and finishes talking about being on an oil rig (inconsistent) The off-shore angle is a copy and paste. I have seen that same text numerous times on everything from Craigs List to Gum Tree, eBay, TradeMe,...
  5. How long are my two pieces of string, and which one is the longest. Anyway, I have Pertronix. One unit failed and replaced by them, free. When asked for the expected lifespan, they said 15 years or so. Used Mallory prior and experienced problems with the optical unit. Very sensitive to spikes.
  6. The 109 is typically capable of towing 4 tonnes, braked and 750k unbraked. There are many variations on that, depending on brake setup, drum size, etc. The question is not what it can pull but what it can stop. Different jurisdictions limit the weight according to local statue, for example in NZ the maximum weight limit for a vehicle like a Land Rover Series III is normally 3.5 tonnes braked and 750kg unbraked. Lower limits can be imposed depending on the coupling, etc.
  7. Great machines, those Zukes. Of course, this is a Land Rover forum. Any Land Rovers there?
  8. Big capacity for a little alloy block for a diesel. Can see why they had problems with cooling, probably kept busting heads too I should imagine.
  9. Get a bulldozer and run a track down the slope. Half a day and you're done, and you're still alive at the end.

Natural canvas colour (the beigy brown, not sure the name) looks good with everything.
  12. Used oil = cancer. Nasty poisonous and toxic stuff.
  13. Stubby bell housing and put the radiator in the rear, with intercooler in the front. Combination of solutions.
  14. You changed all the fluids and fuel? Is the fuel pump working properly? Is the battery charged, alternator charging? Could be a multitude of issues from your description. Some filters are easy to change, others are not.
  15. So, what does a knackered DMF sound like?
  16. Interesting that all the reviews are clearly written by the seller.
  17. Been resprayed. Engine bay is dirty and inside looks pretty tatty for a new, low mileage, vehicle. Been in an accident? Been thrashed?
  18. Pretty high prices for them. Look around at other boat chandlers, you'll get the same thing and cheaper, and there are other kinds of nifty holders too.
  19. There are standard fittings for Series III lap-and-diagonal retractable seat belts. Refer to pages 2F-16 to 2G-09 in the Series III optional parts catalogue.
  20. Instead of chain, I'd use a length of 11mm steel cable (old winch cable would do the trick) with eyelets on each end and a good sized padlock. Concrete a loop into the drive and there's your anti-theft too. Thread it into a length of garden hose to prevent damage to your paint, before your put the eyelet on both ends.
  21. Something different, Bridgestone MT D671. http://www.bridgesto...reads/d671.aspx I am well pleased with these for all round performance on and off-road. They are reasonably quiet on the seal too. There are these too. http://www.bridgesto...reads/d673.aspx They are used in the mines in Oz. Made tough and long wearing. Edit: Tried including images of the tread pattern but apparently I can't use *.jpg files here
  22. May be an older model Spafax mirror? http://www.spafaxmir...ccessories.html More here: http://www.thetoolboxshop.com/vm3-spafax-205mm-x-150mm-unbreakable-lens-wide-angle-rear-view-mirror-commercial-3600-p.asp
