  1. I don't think there is a problem with having the gauge in the car. If it worries you keep the hose behind cover. Having the gauge outside is really annoying. As soon as your windscreen is dirty you don't have a clue what pressure you've got. If a hose were to burst, you'd naturally let go of the lever / button. There are a lot of industrial applications where you're within touching distace of hoses etc. G
  2. Am i the only one here that can sense a disaster in the making ! ? LOL
  3. Petrol filler is just out of site in this picture. Below the waffle boards behind the ground anchor shovel. It would save me removing the waffle boards & anchor.
  4. Yes.....i'm lazy ! Just wondering if the jerry can transfer pumps are any good ? I have to pour my fuel into a jug from the jerry can before pouring it into the tank due to the location of my filler. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pump-Fuel-Transfer-Kit-For-Jerry-Can-Marine-Outboard-Siphon-Syphon-/280947856927?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4169cc161f A spout is no good either ! G
  5. Doesn't matter...the train would be late anyway As proven this week hehe.....
  6. Weld something to it. You any good with a grinder ?
  7. Better to spool them on under load. Or else the wraps tighten on the outside sliding down between the others and getting stuck. Doesn't take long to spool in a rope under tension though. My ropes come off after every weekend to get washed. (currently drying ready for next event). G
  8. Si, i personaly run about 80psi throughout my air system through a regulator. But i'm sure i've read somewhere before that the ARB's actually prefer to be higher pressured than lower for their seals. I've got an air con pump as the primary compressor and then a t-max as the secondary - both have on/off switches as well as pressure switches so i can choose which to run.. Both supply into a brake tank from a lorry. The t-max ones are pretty good value, just don't get dirt in them thats how i've destroyed them before (hence now have a spare fitted!) G

  10. Chris, Unfortunately i'll be at work for this one. But thank you for all the others - they've been thoroughly enjoyed Gordon + James
  11. Sue, There don't seem to be any names on the excel spreadsheet (unless it's how i'm viewing it ??). Any chance you could put them in ? G
  12. I may as well stay on the forum rather than go for my well control refresher tomorrow
  13. You're on a bigger setup than me What job position do you do, you have told me in the past. I'm currently an A/D.
  14. We all work offshore. On drilling rigs. On ours we start by drilling a 36" hole and 17,000 + ft later end up with a 6". Multiple drills are used running liner 'pipes' for different sections. The monkey board is where the derrickman works in the derrick (tower). Generally about 100ft up. G
  15. The issue i used to have was when you bent the track bar with a QT sytle diff guard. It would get to the point where you can't turn the wheel because it's all jammed up. I then went onto using a guard to go around the track rod. This helped a lot as you could land the vehicle on it and all was safe. I then removed the bar when i went hydro Problem solved G
  16. you referring to 18 tonne WOB ? You ever seen a string dropped / planted @ 17,000ft, hell it moves quick....and then the reverse spin when picked up afterwards is impressive ! [/back on topic]
  17. Fair enough. Personally i'd still strip it. You could strip it at home and then take it to your fabricator with no shafts, diff or prop in. You don't need to touch your 3 link to remove this surely ? G
  18. Howcome you've bought that style and not the replacement pan ? These are very nice from Gwyn. To answer your question, i'd remove the diff and shafts as well as drain the oil. It's going to cost you about £5 to refill the oil and hardly take any time. If welded properly you'd burn the oil and heat up the seals. Don't forget you've got bearings and shafts in there. G
  19. A 110v alternator. ? In reply to on board air... Stick with the air con pump - they're awesome I have an air con pump with a 12v compressor installed just as a back up. G
  20. Thanks for the tip ! I'm away at the moment, but having a think - mine is wired like this : http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=15317&st=460#entry376853 So on the one relay i've got it supplying the injectors and ecu. I need to route the wire to the ecu through a smaller fuse. G
  21. Just out of interest, why are you going manual in a challenge truck ? I think you need to rethink that and go auto. G
  22. Point taken, at the moment i'm running about 200 ish i think. It's a tinkered with 4.2. No problems at all touch wood. On my next one i won't be running landrover axles. Dave - thanks for the reply. Have you got an lt230 bolted to your 4l80e ? Do you reckon you could bolt a 4.80e to an rv8 ? How good were the torqueflight 727's ? Cheers G
  23. Evening, So based on personal experience - can an LSE range rover ZF 4hp22 automatic gearbox handle 400bhp and 500ft lb of torque ? I'll admit that i have a heavy right foot and that i'll be spinning big wheels on big axles ! Only to be used offroad for challenging. Dave W - what gearbox have you got on your LS1 ? Although from memory, you run landrover axles successfully, so i think we have a different driving style Nige - what did you find out in your quest. I do have an early p38, which i'll use the torque converter from as these are bigger afaik ??? I'm also lead to believe the lse had a tinkered with hp22 compared to the 3.9 rrc ? I don't really wish to use the 4hp24 out of my p38 as i'll have to run a compushift. No yank gearbox suggestions please 4l80 etc (although i'd love a 6l80e ). G
