Engine has now completed over 2000 hours,

The translucent header tank split on my on Thursday evening, just above the seam on the outer face nearest wing top, coolant dprayeout, managed to get to a layby & got recovered home, going to refit the original black tank.

A useful contact

I work at 4Winds as a roadside Technician,

Refitted the original black tank, only lost the coolant in header tank, all refilled & run, no coolant in oil, no fast raise in temp when idling for 30mins, so reckon it's all good.

Took these photos of the split in removed header tank.

Do you know how old the tank was at all Ralph?

Not as old as the black one I refitted, think about 8 to 10 years , looks like it had a flaw in the corner next to the mounting lug.

Engine was run up to 80 degrees with no over pressure or leaks.
