There is a 1 3/4" gap from edge of tyre to edge of mud guard

I think it looks fine and prefer the cut now rather than the blue line cut. Will it need additional support/bracing in warmer weather though? I think it may sag in the summer

I think the MOT rules are 1 inch of tyre exposed maximum but am sure someone will be able to clarify

Personally I don't like that rubber belting stuff, it's stupidly heavy and very floppy, the standard aftermarket Parlok truck arches are waaaay lighter and very robust.

I've always used it, agreed its heavy but never had an issue with it sagging and it returns to shape nicely, can you get parlock in lightweight wheel arch shape, no joy on the net as yet ?

Personally I don't like them sticking out horizontal hence why I shaped mine.

I know you didn't post it to get comments and I know thats not what the threat is about... but dang I like the look of this thing.

Stephen, I like the look without the cut angle. What you've done on that panel is disgustingly neat.

Have been thinking about this already, part of my thought process was it I brought the rock sliders out to the wheel width just enough, I would then have a platform to mount an external roll cage

It's a bad picture but Parlok are just a brand of standard issue truck mudguards, almost any commercial vehicle supplier will have them on the shelf in a variety of shapes & sizes; similar material to a wheelie bin or the like, very light, quite rigid, can take a few knocks.

Fully appreciate it's your truck, but I personally feel a cage that doesn't have bars externally down the side of a vehicle looks sooooooooo much better. i.e. internal main hoop, windscreen hoop down through the wing tops.

I have an internal cage I can re-use, my thoughts were about protecting my aluminium bulkhead, it's much easier to cut and shut on a mild steel fabrication on a vehicle than it is with an aluminium one.

I may end up using my internal cage because it fastened to the tub tops similar to how the military mount theirs, this means the rear tub still have usable load space

Not sure they would work very well in the square shape of the lightweight arches though? Unless they do them in different shapes like the ones you can get for double axle trailers?

I know exactly what you mean my original belting wings have been on for a couple of decades and not sagged, however they don't stick out anything like the above, the parlock look good but totally the wrong shape for my requirements, the belting will do until I find something better regards Stephen

I think you could score & shape the stuff fairly easily, it's just a much lighter material than that belting stuff... did I mention I don't like the rubber belting? :lol:
