To be fair I think the biggest advantage Stephen has over us is a good scrap pile! I've been slowly accumulating mine and it's surprising once you've got some stock how quickly and easily you can start to knock things together. I built a link box for the back of my little tractor out of scrap, built a quick-remove concealed bike rack for my sisters old house out of scrap I had lying around.

Stellaghost
More work done on dies just need guides now then a test press on some scrap aluminium to see where I'm at regards Stephen

Stellaghost
Had another couple of goes at pressing, this time with annealed test pieces First press, not happy with it , did not have it centralised now I'm very happy, it's pressed a treat, what do you guys think regards Stephen
Maverik
It looks pretty good - for comparison have you got a pic of the steel equivalent to hand to compare against?

Maverik
That looks tidy - might also be worth checking you've got the height in the recess to get the other part of the hinge lined up to then slide onto the pin. 😁 - I love this kind of creativity. Stellaghost
First stab this morning at making full hinge panel One thing I have learnt is softwood is no good as a bending template, will make steel ones later in the week Couple of sheets of 2mm aluminium annealed Wooden template made sheet pressed and cut to shape Clamped in-between formers Flanges hammered and removed from former For comparison I'm reasonably happy with that, steel formers will make corners on folds a wee bit sharper or I may try folding in my gabro although I need the formers for the curved flange at the top Once the corners are tigged up, blended and painted should be not to bad at all Regards Stephen

Maverik
You dont hang about... - I like that 😁 - Mk1 panel looks pretty good out the box, nice work.
Stellaghost
Mk2 panel in the press again pressed OK, you can see where the edge has rippled with the stretching process a wee bit of planishing later it's not too bad, that section folds over at 90 degrees so all good, now to make steel formers, not happy with wood ones regards Stephen
Stellaghost
Steel formers made and mk2 panel formed Clamped and hammer forming around Steel dies Curved section needing a wee bit more work than straight sides completed panel mk1 and mk2 side by side, one on the left is mk2, I think it looks a wee bit sharper, what do you guys think regards Stephen
