  1. About a 1.5" in Coventry and the end of the world. Going out to bolt NATO hitch on, then going to play. Glue
  2. Try contacting your local lifting gear stockist. They should be able to sell you all the links and bits to build your own. The only sticking point may be that they won't sell to you if they find out you want to attach a chain sling (which is rated for lifting) to a ratchet strap (that isn't). If so then try elsewhere and don't tell them why you want the bits. HTH Glue
  3. Thanks Jim, I agree entirely about sizes (most of my additional wiring and my custom jump leads are in 35 sq.mm). My poorly phrased question was more about what size Land Rover fit as factory standard so I can buy the right lugs? A rough educated guess (from measuring) suggests 40 sq.mm, does this sound right.
  4. Evening all. Can any of you kind people tell me how big the battery cables should be in my 1984 One Ten? I'm trying to sort out moving all my battery clamps on to lug types, but can't work find any info to tell me how big a set of lugs I need to buy. thanks in advance. Glue
  5. I'm with Daan on this one, Coventry is the only place I've lived or worked that scares me at night. It really is the care in the community capital of the world ! Glue
  6. Does anyone still know if my Def 110 CSW still counts as a minibus? I seem to remember that 10 seater plus vehicles are counted as minibuses and therefore exempt from the charges! Glue
  7. Sorry for the (slight) hijack, but its sort of relevent. Does any one know of a program that will run on a pocket PC/PDA and convert Lat&Long to OS Grid refs and vice versa? If so, where can I get it??? Glue
  8. Saturday at one, Sunday at the other! Then you can pay two lots of extortionate entrance fees, for only half the stands, since they're all at the other show!!!! Glue
  9. Many thanks folks, Shifting the intercooler pipework gave me enough access, and now I have a happily split charging split charge set up. Thanks again Glue
  10. Evening all, I'm after some advice please. Having physically fitted my split charge system some weeks ago, I had a free hour or so today and thought I'd finish wiring in the trigger. All that I've read suggests that the best place to hook into the wiring is on the back of the alternator. (The wire that causes the warning indicator to go out I believe). Great thinks I, pops the bonnet and grinds to a halt, cos I can't get at the back of the alternator to to get the connector out to splice in the new feed. HTF do I get to it, ideally without taking half the engine apart? Alternatively where else can I pick up a feed that's only live when the engine is running. (Not just when the key's turned to the accessory position) Answers on a postcard... Glue
  11. My money says he was sleeping off a large, and very pleasent sunday lunch, followed by a good stodgy pudding.
  12. No use for the Landy aspect of your quesion, But have you tried a firm called Smiths in the Forest of Dean. (A quick google should turn them up.) They specialise in plastic tanks, and containers. They often have second hand or ex demo ones in various sizes, at cheap prices. They may have a suitable tank to off load your existing leaky tank into. HTH Glue
  13. Morning all, Hopefully I'll be picking up my new beasty this weekend, and then the fun of sorting it out starts. One of the jobs I've got to sort out are the front end recovery points. At present there's nothing, so I'm intending to fit a pair of jate rings. Looking round there seem to be a lot of people making them, at wildly differing prices (£15 a pair to £35 each!), so who's good and who's not? Should I avoid anybody, or who's doing reasonable prices for them at the moment. Answers on a postcard... Glue
  14. Why do most of the picies appear to have your lunch box in? Is this why everything takes so long? If you didn't spend so long eating... Glue
  15. Shouldn't this be in the classifieds? Now where's me coat...... Glue
  16. Having just collected a producer following the death of my beasty, I can tell you that its only for MOT and insurance since the police that I dealt with were happy to accept the photocard only as being my driving licence. Glue
  17. OFFS Another nail in our coffin I think. Idiots Glue
  18. As far as I'm concerned, I donated to the organisation, not to the "buy them a new landy" fund, so they can spend my bit as they deem fit, be it on equipment, building repairs or whatever. Glue
  19. I'm a climber, walker and friend of several people on MRTs around the country. I'll donate if we're going to do it. I just find it so sad that people can be so inconsiderate. Glue
  20. Machine mart do a range to convertors that supply 3 phase from a domestic supply. They're not particularly cheap (it may make more sense to buy a single phase compressor), and obviously without the compressor specs I'm not sure if they do one thats suitable. HTH Glue
  21. Just a quick one to say that on another forum I subscribe to, all adverts are vetted by the mods before being published on the board. That has two advantages, one it cuts down on the amount of choss that we see and secondly prevents all the problems we are seeing here. Another thought is that it would then be possible to verify who the genuine sellers are as opposed to the commercial outfits. Maybe they could then be charged (via the forum's paypal account) before their ads are approved. I appreciate that this may cause more work for a mod, but it may be worth considering. (Do we need a second classified Mod?) Glue
  22. I'll second that, its reduced the noise in mine brilliantly. Also I recommend using Copydex to stick it up with, its the only thing I've found that copes with the temperature range. Glue
  23. I just printed that one for my other half. I'm not going to be getting any for some time I suspect!!!!!!!!
  24. CORRECTION: That was a dizzy, now its a paperweight! Glue
