  1. Is their not wide margin there though ? Where the original bar would have bent a very long way before a track rod or housing would break?
  2. For some reason that makes me think of stolen stuff .. 😕 How legit can they be if they aren’t clued up to the price AND have no reason to hold onto it?
  3. I wish it wasn’t a 7 hour round trip so I could come and say hello - try out the secret handshake 🤝
  4. Does anyone know the part number for the Series 2,2a,3 military fuel filler/filter tube ? its the one that fits with 3 prongs ..
  5. Yes - he says they have got the DSC working on it . I was surprised - as at first I thought it was just an engine swap and a tart up.
  6. Something like these any good?: http://www.adl-components.co.uk/5x-bmw--ford-exhaust-manifold-stud-bolt-m8-x-58mm-11122343030-car--motorbike-3592-p.asp Here they are on eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F323003557443
  7. Both Brass and Copper get used - but I seem to have only come across classic cars using brass?. If the studs are a standard M8 pitch, can you not buy a generic stud and nut kit? Even if you have to cut them down?
  8. Having read @Gazzar‘s rebuild thread I think 90% of his ‘old’ chassis is new steel anyway 😂
  9. I’ve just separated mine - it came apart quite easily, but hadn’t been fastened up correctly and had rotated on the key way. Not dear to replace though 😊
  10. I’m not 100% sure what rationale they gave - I think they’ve said he can keep the reg, but the conversion is a radical alteration. Hes had a fall chassis, the original bulkhead rebuild and galv’d, paid £4K to have his engine rebuilt - £1500 for his gearbox and transfer box to be rebuilt, tons of genuine new parts and every fitting and nut and bolt restored - but the only genuine modifications are fitting a tilt, series doors, and different seats. Its clearly nonsense - but what a world of trouble from just trying to do the right thing.
  11. Just got mine back with the new engine details - between 4 and 5 weeks it took. A cautionary tale though - I know of someone who’s just had a nut and bolt restoration of a V8 90, huge amount of money spent on it. He told DVLA that he’d also converted it to soft top and they’ve taken the VIN off him.
  12. Wow Mo - I thought you and your 200tdi were happily married !?
  13. Have you seen this being sold by Glenn Coyne? Could anyone explain how it works to me? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302638786449 from the advert:
  14. I did also consider using the series set up from the 2.25 - which I think is the same part as used on the 200tdi Defender engine - but I wasn’t sure how it would fit with the manifold. There is a cheap one on eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253413495722 Looks like it should probably fit as it’s shorter and self supporting ..
  15. I think I ordered the olive and tube - but re-used the screw in bit. Do you not have the original dipstick with it ?
  16. I’ve transferred the screw and olive bit over to the 300 tube. The tube fits in just the same and the length seem the same - so my plan was to benefit from the better fit and double check the reading by pouring in a precise amount of oil.
  17. I’ve fitted a 300tdi one to suit the manifold ...
  18. That looks really good 👍🏻 I bought a coin tray - but have never got around to fitting it, initially because it was such a tight fit it felt like I’d have to hammer it in. So I parked it and thought I’ll look at that later. Then more recently I’ve left it because I have to display a picture parking pass at work - which clips into the gap around the ashtray lid rather nicely, and I don’t know what I’d use instead ..
  19. I remember that - I think it was this episode : and from memory it was some railway guy he found to do the stitching.
  20. Found the answer to my own question...... Cant decide what to do on my 80” for the exhaust. I though about these - but it’s expensive to then have to cut and shorten to fit. I’ve also though abought taking it to one of the custom stainless places and getting one made - can’t decide!
  21. It’s all looking fantastic ... what exhaust is it? Is it a Steve Parker one?
