  1. OMG sod the t shirts you need wetsuits Congratulations! Fantastic effort, Mike
  2. I always thought the 2 nuts thing was to make extra sure the bolt cant pull through? Mike
  3. Yup, they do that, my N/S/F chose 65mph on the M62 in rush hour to do it... Took slightly less time to change the bearing than get my undies clean again Mike
  4. Hi Tom, I don't mind coming to view any with you if you like, I'm in Liverpool most of the time (am about to go to borneo for 6 weeks though) Are you sure you can't be tempted with a far superior wheelbase? like a 110 by any chance? Mike
  5. Hi as above, 2mm is cheaper and perfectly adequate, some people (me included) put silicone underneath just so you dont spend hours washing mud out from underneath them, Mike
  6. Gutted for you both, its worth keeping an eye out on ebay for the toys that were on it, Mike
  7. Hi Most of your replacements can come from screwfix, get M6 M8 M10 in various lengths from about 1" through to some about 4" (ones that go through chassis) that will do most of your requirements, get BZP not stainless as they cost an arm and a leg, for suspension bolts get the part numbers and go to your local fastener place and get them to match. Make sure everything you get is 8.8 or above, imperial nuts/bolts you can get from Namrick, beware ordering bolts from landy shops, I ordered some from paddocks for the radius arms etc and they were real homebase specials Mike
  8. As an aside I saw that unit on ebay, its a share of a unit at 125 quid per month per car... here was me thinking it was for the whole thing... I'd have moved house for that Mike
  9. I have a set of the crescent ratchet spanners from costco, they are good quality and I would recommend. Costco have a really good no quibble returns service, I am currently on my 8th and 9th bosch silvertop batteries in my landy, I have destroyed them accidentally with my wiring skill or had to leave them ages (stupid exams) til they went totally flat, every time I took them back it was no fuss even without receipts, Mike
  10. Hi As I understand it, IF the chassis you are buying is a new chassis that has never been part of a car and never been given a chassis number, then you can (with a receipt proving purchase of a NEW chassis) apply to the DVLA and tell them you are replacing the chassis, they will probably inspect the vehicle and either give you a new chassis number or let you put your old one on providing you can prove the old one has been destroyed. If your using a second hand chassis then officially you are into SVA territory, although there is some experience of members who have had a blind eye turned. All that being said if you unfortunately had an extremely rusty O/S dumb iron and were forced to remove it and replace with a new one then your chassis wouldn't have a number anyway Mike
  11. hmmm that doesn't sound right (my number, not doubting your maths bish!)
  12. Hi Are you referring to the lashing eyes? Ie the ones fixed to the chassis front and rear? These are for fixing the car down to be transported not for towing, Jate rings replace these eyes with something up to the job! Any of the 4x4 shops sell general purpose tow ropes that are about 24mm and usually rated for 12T, if its just for road use machine mart sell various straps for not much £££, Avoid the plastic ones from halfrauds or petrol stations as they are utter cr@p! Please note however that AFAIK towing on a rope is a no no now and you are supposed to use a pole, having said that a pole is much nicer to tow/be towed with and means you can move cars with dodgy brakes... Theres an informative thread in the tech archive on recovery points... Mike
  13. Apparently according the dixon bate site they are rated to 17kN, whatever that is in real life Mike
  14. Hi I want to seal up the alpine light holes on the 109 camper, rather than rivet a 18g aluminium panel over the hole... 1. Would Sikaflex/tiger seal both fix the panel and make it watertight? 2. Which one is better? 3. I think I should fix the panel from the inside, any reason not to do it this way? 4. Would I need to fix the panel mechanically ie rivets while the glue sets or is it instant grab? 5. I haven't used this stuff before, anything I should know that I can't read on the tube? Thanks Mike
  15. Hi Congratulations Answers: 1) You could do, won't hurt... 2)I got a fairly comprehensive metric one from screwfix that was much better quality than I thought it would be, you can buy individual T&D as and when you need them... 3) You will need to remove the output flange, while you're at it you could replace the oil seal too (buy genuine!) Mike
  16. Hi Luke, Welcome to the forum, If you can get a good key on the surface then I have heard good things about POR15 but it is eye wateringly expensive! If you took it right back to bare metal I'd be tempted with Galvafroid or Zinga. Don't forget the Waxoyl as they tend to rust from the inside out, theres plenty of info in the tech archive on how to waxoyl! Mike
  17. Hi If your going down the bucket seat route then I would recommend you try a few out first as they aren't adjustable and some can be a errr... snug fit for the fuller figured gentleman? You might also find them more upright than regular seats, I personally like the cobras as they seem to fit me, You can go to any motorsport shop and try them out first, I personally have leather electric rangy ones in mine! Mike
  18. Ralph any more radios and you'll need Air traffic control's permission to park your car? I thought I had gone OTT with my dash... Mike
  19. oh and most of it came from Neil at polevolt or VWP, only because Neil is local to me really, no difference in stock/quality or service, they are both really good, but chuffing expensive!
  20. I'm sure pete (raceface120) will be along shortly, as he is currently swearing at the 5 module version in my 110, IIRC I have got 2 x 6 way mini relay holders, 2 x 20 way mini fuse holders and 1 x 4 way normal size relay holders, this is for a complete rewire, total new (lucas free ) loom, however I have lots of extra lights/radio/inverter etc Mike
  21. Pete, theres a mountney boss in the unit on the kit car shelves, this is from a mini and might fit, try it if you like as if it fits you'll get one much cheaper at minisport! Mike
  22. err... yes I think mine is referred to as the 'Rat Look' its only lifted 1.5" nothing special... Oi what do you mean wiring spread everywhere? Get back to work! Mike
  23. Hi try here Dunno how good they are, Mike
