  1. Because you have air suspension and can get away with it as it levels up 😀. I do the same but you do need to be careful you are not exceeding the rear axle max weight Amazes me the difference just a couple of inches can make in positioning a load on a trailer
  2. When I bought mine I went round trying it on tractor wheel nuts in the yard 😀
  3. Legalities aside I quite like it. Yes the rear tub is a little questionable but the proportions look right
  4. For me this is the exact opposite and is a bit of a result - my OH has been getting training from me on towing trailers with L plates. Her need to tow is infrequent and would always be local so it never really felt worth doing the test given the cost of it so I always do the towing. This now means she can nip round locally with the trailer I didn't do the trailer test as I did my C+E so not sure if there was anything on loading. There certainly should have been!!
  5. The rules post 1997 were confusing for a lot of people and there are very valid points raised above that they created situations where tow cars were being used that were less suited to get around the total train weight. A caravan being towed by a Disco/RR has got to be safer than being towed by a saloon car that will likely be close to it's maximum train weight. I do agree that some sort of training a bit like the CBT for bikes would be a good idea to make sure that people know the basics surrounding hitching and unhitching plus weight distribution when loading Far more significant than the trailer test being dropped are the changes to the HGV test IMO. Whilst being able to do one test and gain C and C+E at the same time would have saved me a lot of money and time I think the time spent in a rigid is valuable - a long rigid and an artic are very different beasts to drive. Dropping the reverse part of the test and the couple/uncouple I find unbelievable. I know they are saying it will still be checked as part of the training but I feel those things are far too significant to drop. Imagine an incorrectly coupled artic on the road?
  6. Ah bad luck. I was hoping to be reading a success story
  7. We got back yesterday too, had a great time although it was a shame that some of the usual suppliers such as MUD UK and Masai were missing We may have enjoyed a couple of beers too many with the Gigglepin crew on Friday night so Saturday morning was a slower start than planned!
  8. Me either....some interesting reading here http://turnermanufacturing.org.uk/turner-jenbach-list-cerlist-diesel-engines Sorry to the OP, we have gone off topic!
  9. Hope you manage to find a decent one at reasonable money. They have really crept up in price in recent years due to the trend to use them for Coffee/Pizza trucks. I searched for the larger TM703 version for years but could not find the version with a steering wheel. Too heavy/powerful to fit the moped requirements for you though. I ended up with the british version of the TM703 instead 🙂
  10. About to drag the camping trailer out of the shed. Hopefully the weather will hold for this weekend Who is coming?
  11. Why don't you believe it came out of the factory in that colour. Is the seatbox/inside of the rear tub etc a different colour? If you knew the colour was original it makes it much easier as you can normally identify the colour using the chassis number and entering it into Microcat
  12. I would imagine that it will need replacement - I can't see it being designed to cope with that
  13. Could alter the pump settings to achieve this I suppose or restrict the throttle opening?
  14. I have owned a couple registered in this way but both had agricultural machinery bolted on them to change the use from a simple pickup to something else. One was set up for slug pelleting and the other a sprayer. I think they are quite tight on allowing this to happen now so you may struggle. It also limits you to (from memory) 15 miles max radius from base and only from field to field so you could not use it to go to the shops for example
  15. Another school day - never noticed the difference on those dimpled nuts. Going to go and have a look at one down the shed now!
  16. Exactly this, only trouble is that using a breaker bar you get a feel for when you are going to snap it off and can stop/apply more heat etc but with the big impact wrenches you don't get that opportunity
  17. First one looks like a Sport to me, second one is the Defender 130
  18. Most blasters won't touch it as when you try and blast it the powder coat heats up and softens and then the blasting is not very effective.
  19. I had this exact issue with some light guards. In the end I loaded the firepit up with some logs put them on it and lit it! They didn't buckle and it all came off. I shot blast them after to clean them up before getting them galvanised and re powder coated
  20. I agree with Western on this, you want the main braking effort on the front or you risk locking up the rears and the only option for vented will be with bigger front callipers which could cause that issue. I guess the question is why are you considering it?
  21. Same - I tend to use a fine grade wet and dry with WD40 or similar. I can't think of a block that I have not done this on before putting a head back
  22. They won't want it covered in paint like that though......
  23. I was going to say 200kg so pretty close to Arjan. I know two of us just managed to pick one up and move it about so it really can't be more than that
