as everyone else has said, replace the idler & tensioner when my timing belt broke it was waaaaay worse than that inside but it was the tensioner that had died, rebuilt it all with all new bits inc britpart tensioner (Doh) & it lasted 150 miles (muddytruckers 09) before the tensioner was dead again, replaced it with a gen one & all good if i can find the pic of inside my timing cover i'll post them, was almost a timeline of events i did in 08 with tong clay on top also id strongly advise replacing the front cover seal as thats where the water n carp gets in even you have the wading plug in

Mine is the same as cidermans, just not quite as neatly finished yet

Aragon since you are in livingston & not a million miles away from me you are more than welcome to have a drive of my tdi auto challenge 90, i have just recently converted to auto from a manual & have to say it is so much easier to drive & has so much more fine control than the manual

calling those in the know with HP22 auto box's was out playing today & the fault we had at manby has come back, when selecting gear everything is 1 position out IE where reverse was park is, where neutral was reverse is etc when selecting drive the box hunts up & down like its always on the change point, so anyone have any ideas on where to start? when i swapped the box into my 90 from my doner disco i left the selector & its cable attatched to the autobox so when i fitted it i only had to reatatch the stop the the gearbox mount, Help.......................

it relives a lot of stress on the bushes & i have found that they make the bushes last more than one event, personally i use Gwyn lewis rear HD arms which have withstood some heavy abuse

going from omex to megasquirt seems a bit like a back step TBH

means i can do this dont have it that hot all the time however i havent had a turbo or headgasket failure yet (hmmm thats knacked that run of luck) However having access to a 4wd dyno helps with the fine tuning so it very rarely now goes that high

22-24 psi 200 tdi defender (made approx 150bhp on dyno) Egts were 700-950c+ when driven hard, when driven steady would do 550c ish Used for winch challenges and daily drive Have just converted to auto with a 300tdi turbo on the 200 tdi engine, not had a chance to refit egt probe yet but seatofpants dyno indicates quicker than previous setup and currently running standard boost,should get it on the 4wd dyno one night this week . hi, if you remove the turbo heatshield & have a look at the manifold there is a round dot where the manifold collects & then goes into the turbo, i have fitted 3/4 EGT guages to Td5s & this is where i drill to fit the EGT probe Mike

Will measure the pipes when I'm back up at the workshop tommorow, iirc the pipes were 8mm od n 7mm I'd,

-6 teflon braided pipe with a 10x16 derale cooler with fan on a 200tdi with HP22 at manby out the whole weekend the fan only cam on twice (switchs automaticaly @ 80c)

thats not the full results thats the final results the full results would contain a breakdown of each stage including who had what time & what penalties anyway,good event, had fun, bit dissapointed with our result considering had no DNfs & no breakages but hey ho a quick vid my other 1/2 took & a pic of what happened on thur night before the event started more pics to be uploaded tommorow
