  1. I think it's a farm gate that has been cut down a little to fit .....
  2. You're kidding right? 7K for a Defender that can drive up a 90 degree incline or drive completely inverted is an absolute bargain! I can forgive the blur for that sort of ability ...
  3. Lol, that's going to be brilliant. I shall await the news reports of traumatised cats
  4. Spi-defender .... makes more sense when you read it out loud
  5. Unless you were to use something like reclaimed RSJ's I think you'd be hard pressed ( pun intended ) to get materials at a price to beat that.
  6. Could you imagine the industrial accident you could have with one of those? I bet those large presses are actually really easy to break if you load them up wrong tbh
  7. I was going to suggest this one but thought it overkill http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271276806188
  8. I doubt there'd be much that wouldn't budge with that behind it
  9. This should suit all your needs Stephen .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221712124774
  10. ..... and an old school wet battery
  11. Yep Ed, modern cars have a more intelligent charging system than just letting the alternator pump out 14-ish volts the whole time, they will use a different voltage for bulk charging than they use for the top up charge, take ambient temperature into account and other things. A clockwork Land Rover (no idea about any of the ECU controlled engines) will just always charge at the full alternator output voltage.
  12. I'd read on a battery website pretty much what Simon has said above, it said that if you have a dumb charging solution then on long journeys you will overcharge the new technology batteries. That's why I went for the Exide EG110B battery, it's pretty much the Land Rover HD battery but 50 quid cheaper. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/absorbent_glass_mat_agm
  13. I went for an Exide EG110B (110AH and 950cca) more of a traditional battery and very similar to Land Rovers own heavy duty battery. Eurocarparts sell them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231418726210 I'm very happy with it.
  14. Instead of hydraulics for the raising of the weight could air work?
  15. There's a lot of hope in that sentence, I find that relying on hope rarely turns out well. I hope for your sake that I am wrong Anyway just trying to point out that murphy will creep in wherever you leave him room to spread his law about. Out of curiosity if it is done as a rolling chassis how is he going to do the underside of everything? Lay on floor? Roll it over? Hang from ceiling? A chassis has a reasonable weight but with a couple of axles hanging off it it'll be a lot heavier. If you make the job harder for the bloke doing the blasting you will get a worse job done.
  16. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU LOOK UP THAT EBAY LISTING (mobile site seems safe but full site will forward you to a phishing site) The second one has been removed Maverick (my mistake it's still there) but the eBay one is not only fake but appears to auto forward you to a phising site designed to look exactly like eBay but prompt you to log back in so they can steal your credentials. The original listing is 251748266403 which they stupidly left the item number displayed in the phising listing.
  17. What private individual has nearly 500 items on ebay at one time?
  18. Lol, I hear my name As OneAndTwo said it's new handles and a new rear door lock because the new barrels are longer and larger in diameter. I was being a cheapskate so modified my existing handles and rear door lock, however I'd say that wasn't a sensible use of my time You can see pictures of the differences in the barrels here http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=64861&p=619379
  19. Surely any string in a Land Rover will be damp anyway ...
  20. With AC the skin effect comes into play, as frequencies rise the current is carried in a layer nearer the surface of the cable, the higher the frequency the thinner this layer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_effect This basically means there is a higher resistance for the higher frequencies with large strands, so lots of thin strands results in better high frequency performance. Or, multistrand will sound 'brighter' than solid core.
