  1. That said Chris even the sides of the rear tub look to have been hand made, there has been some skilled work put into it, even if it wasn't in good taste and he has a deluded sense of value.
  2. You need to bare in mind the last contact wasn't 5 years ago but much more recently (just over a year ago, although I'd guess at that point it was made obvious it wasn't welcome there anymore). Also we may have a reasonable lead now on the whereabouts of the owner.....
  3. Les, do you have a rough idea of where he lives?
  4. AVCIS record information about it and then pass the details onto the DVLA who put a marker on it so the next time someone tries to transfer the V5 the vehicle gets called in for an ID check. That information came from a Sergeant at AVCIS who did email me back.
  5. Any good ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141031593188
  6. Surely M10 is M10 Ralph? Some motorcycle spark plugs are that small.
  7. If anyone fancies reprogramming their own speedo this programmer looks like it would do the job, and it's cheap at 13 quid delivered from the far east. I've not tried it myself but it does list the memory chip we need to program in it's compatibility list. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EZP-High-Speed-USB-Programmer-SPI-25-flash-bios-chip-Support-24-25-93-EEPROM-/161266969876 You'll still have some small-ish scale soldering to do.
  8. Well that will teach you! I hope you've learned a lesson there
  9. Just check your tappet clearances and you'll know straight away if it was a valve cap..... because you'll be able to push the handle of the feeler gauge through. If it a valve cap replace it with one from turners.
  10. They're available in the uk to Mickey, the saying goes 'a lock keeps an honest man out'. Look up bump keys on youtube, simpler, smaller and diy.
  11. When you video it have some other noise as a reference, perhaps you talking. Otherwise without reference it'll just be as loud as my volume setting
  12. Is it really that loud then? I have a 200 litre compressor that's on the other side of a single skin brick wall and the main noise I hear from it is the rattle from the guard.
  13. I'd not let him talk to you like that Ross! Calling you a dense object ... tsk tsk I take it you've checked it's not something stupid like the belt guard rattles or perhaps resonates? Is the belt correctly tensioned?
  14. As it's close to the roof perhaps that is amplifying it a little?
  15. Parts book is available at http://www.landroverv8.com/manuals.html
  16. It's not pointless Iain, it is however not a long term solution. I did over 20,000 more miles on my R380 by going to the cross drilled gear and using the unworn section of splines that existed in mine. The splines had started breaking away completely before I swapped the gear, when I finally changed the gearbox there was no noticable extra wear so I'd happily believe it would have done many more miles if the gearbox hadn't passed away for another reason. It does however seem it only applies to R380's, also from what people have said it's not a case of all undrilled gears had short splines and all drilled gears had long splines.
  17. Speech doesn't even need that high a frequency, telephony traditionally only bothers with 300hz to 3.4khz.
  18. In some of the posher parts of London the police were stopping all Range Rovers and checking they weren't stolen, I guess that just made the thieves move to a different spot.
  19. If we're doing the whole what's legal thing don't forget if you borrowed a tractor you'd have to do the journey on white diesel.
