  1. S3 clutch pipe adaptor is 3/8"UNF male to screw into the master and 7/16"UNF female for the pipe tube nut to screw into.
  2. Change the oil switch and do a pressure check with a temporarily fitted gauge.
  3. It sounds to me like the main problem is the driver not being used to the sound of a diesel.
  4. Left hand side at the rear of the gearstick is where it should be.
  5. Only does 45mph? what gearbox have you got? If this in a 109" i would not recomend fitting 3.54 diffs, i had an 88" with 3.54 diffs and it was ok for solo running about but a nightmare for trailer work needing low box to get moving on uphill starts. A series with a Rover diesel on 7.50 x 16 tyres runs at 65mph @ 4000rpm.
  6. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dean-smith-and-Grace-lathe-/291027557095?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item43c2981ae7#ht_253wt_958 Much better quality than a Colchester.
  7. My old 2a 109" diesel from 1970 had a flywheel that was drilled for both 2 & 3 dowel clutches, but when i was rebuilding engines for a living even early S3 diesel flywheels were only drilled for 3 dowels.
  8. If it is on an 88" plate over the opening in the body side and fit an MOD type tank.
  9. Is the water tank above pump outlet level? if it is with the tanks full, the supply valve open and the tank should gravity feed thro the pump when the branch valve is opened even with the pump not turning as its a centrifugal pump not a displacement pump. Do the branch valves actually open when the handles are turned to open?
  10. It wont get hot enough for SVO, it was an anti waxing solution with the older diesel for winter running, i had one on my 88". Power from ign sw to the temp switch in the filter head, from there to the element, from the element to earth. Peugrot 205/305 had a fuel filter with a bottom bowl that was.water jacketed and plumbed into the heater(IIRC) circuit to have the same effect.
  11. For your 2a you'll need clutch cover 571228 and plate 8510290(FRC2297 which is the serie 3 plate) Thats the 2a diaphragm cover which has a boss in the middle of the diaphragm and a series 3 drive plate.
  12. IIRC the 9.5" clutch was an optional fitment over the 9" on the 2a. The petrol diesel difference was the spring strengths in the cover and drive plate, the diesel having stiffer springs. My 66 diesel had a 9.5" clutch when i bought it and a friends 66 & 64 109" vehicles were fitted with 9" clutches, one was diesel and the other petrol..
  13. Big mig sets running CO2 used to have a gas heater as at high flows it would presumably freeze just like a CO2 extinguisher does.
  14. I used to find that the original screws were No 10 x 32 UNF thread and the replacements were a metric thread which was a coarser pitch so we told the tank maker to supply the screws with the tanks which was done.
  15. Where i used to work we had a chap come in to do some of the welding, he had his own landy business and did a lot of welding. He used pub gas compared to my welding with argoshield universal. His welds looked like they had been laid on top of the parent metal (rather than melted into) with a lot of spatter and mine had flowed into the parent metal with a lot less spatter. As i understand it argo mixes are for light welding which covers chassis work and neat CO2 is for a lot heavier work.
  16. Rovers North in the US used to do or still do shafts for series Rover axles that are 24 spline at both ends.
  17. How old is the axle? series 1 & 2 were set bolts screwed in from inside and a locking wire thro the bolt heads.
  18. If it will only do 45mph at the moment there is either a serious problem or it has a 1 ton box fitted which has lower transfer gears. Series boxes are the same for 4 pot petrol and diesel, the 6 pot had a different bellhousing unique to that model.
  19. If the heater core is on the bypass circuit as it should be dont fit a tap as with no bypass localised hot spots could cause overheating damage before the thermo opens cos with no bypass there is no water circulation.
  20. The pressure in is the 2 close together ports marked on the r/h, other ports are either plugged or have bleed nipples.
  21. MOD 109" rear shackles 5 1/8" ctrs Std civvy 109" rears 4"ctrs. from memory the spring hangers have a larger difference than 1 1/8" between the 2 sets of holes. Over to somebody else with a 1 ton/wd spec 109".
