  1. Forgive the additional question, but Arjan, I notice you appear to have trimmed your brownchurch rack. I was hoping to mount mine within the rack frame, is this not possible? The Hannibal we had was the 1.6 mtrs. wide one. This one will not fit inside the Brownchurch - if opening over the rear or front it is wider than the Land Rover... I was not happy cutting the Brownchurch but I had no choice. Event. sold the tent & roofrack to a 110 owner who is still using it as I made it. The 1.40 mtrs. version does, AFAIK, fit inside the Brownchurch. However, there is very little space left for other stuff in that case. FYI : the tent came on 2 roof bars - the First Four ones - and I was told the seller never had problems. Build as I am, I decided I needed to have something a bit more sturdy, hence the Brownchurch. This season, I'll be using a rebuild Hard Shell RTT but eventually go for a Home Build Pop Up roof.
  2. Size matters but with the size the weight goes up. The big Hannibal and officially it sleeps 4. We found 2 adults are fine but that is just us. I suggest you consider getting 2 "smaller ones" as it gives a bit privacy, you can leave one home when not needed and you don't have to open over the side. Buy the best you can afford - quality does vary.
  3. Richards will stamp for "export". If you get the new chassis with an invoice from the manuf. - like Richards - you can legally swop the chassis. Contact likes of DVLA / VOSA for your correct procedure. Some countries require you to keep the part from the old chassis with the # in it. I'm quite sure the seller will be able to inform you how to do this officially - you're not the first to do it.
  4. Hydraulic pot type one en route - Hi-Lift or trolley jack in the workshop.
  5. Hmm.... These trailer lights on the dash work on a totally perfect electrical system and correct relay. We have repeater lights on the trailers as we do not trust the thing in anything Land Rover. You can try to find the source of the problem but it could turn out to be a long hunt...
  6. We have both the "safari" and the "mantec" type. Both modified to be not connected when not needed - only when we think it is going to be "a wet day" We did away with the seal(s) and have a tested waterproof connection with a hose going all the way from the top of the RAI to the airfilter house. The Hybrid had a home build one but will get something new - rather more solid - when the conversion is finished. MAke sure the RAI is 100 % waterproof where need be. Otherwise forget it and be careful.
  7. Yes - please put as much up as you like !! Love to hear the stories & see pics
  8. Nothing unusual here I'm afraid. Hydraulic forces & ratchet straps are your friend
  9. Yes - the "American Doors" are one of the reasons for getting one. Ours has been all over Europe and the horses love it. Very good on the road at any speed (we often do 110 - 130 km/h. when empty on the long runs) and loaded it sits there at 90 km/h. and it is very stable - horse love the step in / step out as ramps are often slippery etc. The composite floor is really strong and does not rot. Here, they hold their value very, very well...
  10. Interesting topic. So much variation in the various countries
  11. Too heavy. It will pull it - fully loaded it can be interesting when braking and when 2 nice big horses are transported in it and they are cracking jokes among them you'll be all over the place. As you're uninsured with it - even empty - I can only suggest to stay away from it. You could consider the Fautras - they're 2 tonnes gross and tow very, very well...
  12. Will be fun to see how she goes...
  13. Many thanks for these wise words. Trouble is that like you said, the LR Dealer near him was somewhat ...., how shall I say this politely, unsure what to do. His mechanics are younger than the vehicle and this creates challenges. And solving "by proxy" makes it even more complicated.. Love the simplicity of my 200 & 300 Tdi's....
  14. Think you could invest in some books to get an idea what you're dealing with . - Workshop manual - partsbook - series restoration manual - owners handbook Pictures of mine are useless as it is not "standard"...
  15. Well.... It gets interesting as the code given to the owner is not what the BCM wants.. It seems the BCM is a new one and this could make it interesting.. The 1515 doesn't work.. I suggested to scrap the thing but he is still trying.... Could end up taking the thing to the dealer..
  16. Yes..... Bit unclear but think DII. Sounds like when cold the thing won't rev. Only computer in my LR's are inside the SatNav - sorry.
  17. Think you could make those shutters easily yourself. By the look of it they are nothing special really - any work van fitter may have some left overs, otherwise domestic shutter fitting places will have some. Roll them up, cut them to length and off you go. Like the look of them - never seen them like that before. I have military ones on the 110 HT.
  18. Contact Ashcroft. Sounds as if different sizes are around...
  19. Sorry if this is in the wrong section - but I'm in France and he's in Holland... My friend has been given as a form of "payment" 2.6 tonnes of Range Rover P38 - 1997 with a nice 4.6 and some 170,000 miles on it. It looks nice. Slight problem : although all paperwork is there, the "keycode" is lost so the thing is "dead." Is there any easy solution or does this mean a trip to the dealer with the well known bill ? I have no experience with them what so ever...
  20. 90 % of the Laning we do is solo - we must check / find / etc lanes and most clients don't like reversing for 2 miles.... Nothing wrong with that - but you need to be prepared.
  21. Hi Marc, Please keep us posted on these trips. Want to go there again and testing the 110 would make a good excuse
