  1. Not going into the politics of EU - UK seems to be leaving anyway so please be kind to each other as good neighbours should be. Each and every country in the EU has different laws and regulations, just like the US states or the Canadian Provinces do. So, depending on where you decide to immatriculate the vehicle - not the same as importing - you will have to follow the rules set in that country. The German TüV system is actually quite warkable as you can offer your mod to a TüV approved engineer etc. and if they allow the mods it is registered with the logbook and insurance issues are not there as it is allowed. France is not too bad. Spain is very strict - as is Portugal. Welcome to the old side - enjoy
  2. Thanks - this is really going to be a stunner !
  3. The engine pre-heater usu. gets the coolant up to around 60 C after some 15-20 mins. A friend made me an "ECU" that starts the blower (also powered from the 2nd battery) and the non-standard heater gets the 110 quite warm. The unit can work on a thermostat (when sleeping inside) or by remote. Warm engine means easy starting (even by minus 25 C. high up in the mountains while camping) and less engine wear (so I've been told).. We 're about to start fitting a unit like this to the Series Hybrid this Summer and look forward to use the thing. Getting into a warm car is really, really nice.
  4. Have 3 axle and it has been everywhere with too many things.. Before going the Brian James route, have you checked the Numax / Hulco / Anssems etc. ones that are made across the North Sea ? Could be interesting given the pound versus €€ etc.
  5. Mystery ? I just play with trains.... 😎
  6. Out with clients today.... A good was had by all and the 110 really loved going out again after a Winter of sleeping in the workshop. Now off to NL / PL / RU to play with trains...
  7. Interesting.... When I'm back from the coming NL/PL/RU Raid I'll fit the temp sensors on the 110. That's a standard 300 Tdi set up and see what I get...
  8. I know & feel your pain I spent 3 days before the 200 Tdi would accept the gearbox. Alignment needs to be 100 % spot on Bon Courage !
  9. Looks very, very nice..... Interesting to see ho the X brake goes on - the ArgoCat is in the workshop right now and once that's sorted the Hybrid goes in to fit the XBrake Please keep them coming..
  10. Very interesting to hear how you fare - friends in the UK have great need for a Series III box that needs a quality rebuild (200 Tdi in front) and also how you like the X-brake. As soon as I find time, the Hybrid goes in the workshop for the X Brake to go on... Bon Courage !
  11. Looking forward hearing you experiences with them !
  12. I can't weld..... However, this one makes me glue metal together...... Old, heavy, 3-phase and very, very nice to use.
  13. Ifor Williams has the LR pattern, as did Rise - although those are serious money these days. There are several axle suppliers that can sell you what you want - Richardson However, I suggest against the use of unusual stuff on trailers. Get something local and widely sold and have 2 adaptors machines for you to go make it accept LT Rims. Cheaper and easier in the long run I guess.. Bon Courage
  14. Totally up to you - however you may find, depending on where you are located and where the vehicle is registered, that you'll have some serious issues when involved with the law. Apart from that, the plumbng is the easy part - sort of - but the ECU is different. The RRC Softdash had ABS and a 300 Tdi. Have a look there I suggest.
  15. Not sure what the difference would be, really.. We have never problems with the ones in our - standard LR part.
  16. No argue here.. Chains have their use but we always ask our beloved clients if they are 100 % sure they really want to go there needing chains etc. and getting potentially into trouble. Chains help us a lot. However - in Scandinavia we often do 350 miles per day on iced roads and the need for speed is obvious... Have fun in the snow !!
  17. Big difference with the studs is speed. When we do the Winter Northcape Raid it is serious miles each day and with chains you're seriously slower.. And in Norway etc. studs rule.. Here in the Auvergne, studs are complusery when ice is on the roads in certain Cantons. Otherwise, we have chains but with the climate changes, we need them less and less.
  18. What Red said - but I'd contact Britpart about it and ask them for their solution. You make it sound as if 6 month use ran the springs down... We had some minor issues with a Dutch shockmaker and they sorted it out after 1 email. Those shocks were 5 years old
  19. If the road is really iced up - chains, too will not do a lot.. However, they do work and usu get you out of trouble. Get used fitting them when the weather is nice, sunny and warm - try again in the rain at night to see how well you've learned th trick.. We have spikes and that helps but I think in the UK they're banned ?
