  1. As above, not sure on the 400 Hz part - mine go from 0 to 50. Also offer a lot of protection to the motor as it trips out before frying the motor. Currently run 1 on the lathe and 2 on the mill. G
  2. 2 photo's in a row on here with the chuck key in the chuck ! tut tut tut.... Nice but now buy a VFD for it G
  3. Toyota engineers tested their door seals by putting a cat in the car on a Friday. If it suffocated over the weekend, the seal was OK. Landrover engineers used this, but changed the success criteria to whether the cat was still in the car or not!
  4. Ive had a gas strut in my series bonnet for years now, so much easier G
  5. Just be careful using the advance / retard settings, from memory they're double (or is it half ?) due to the megasquirt spark system. G
  6. Which discs are used ? LR front or rear ? Thanks G
  7. The snap on ones are really nice, but not cheap Hope you're well G
  8. And to top it all off, if you really really wanted to upgrade the rear. Put on a set of front 4 pot calipers. But they will lock up unless you drive around all the time in difflock. Have you got the bigger 4 pots on the front ? Don't worry about the solid rear discs. And ditto all the comments about vented fronts. G
  9. Now i'm confused. (since the PM's lol) I thought the running engine was using a clocked wheel, didn't realise you'd got it running by swapping leads - if thats the case, then we know it works, you need to check & double check the non runner Have you got (or access to) an oscilloscope to check if the VR is working ? Or are you seeing RPM when cranking ? As said above, draw on some timing marks (the 4.6's don't have like the earlier models, but can be drawn with white pen) and see if / when it's sparking. G
  10. Sorry, i'd just been talking to someone about using the gems crank position sensor - hence my reply about using the 4.0 bits
  11. The mrs was looking at an evoque, maybe have to wait Wonder if it'll be more reliable ??? Probably haha ! G
  12. Use the bits from a p38 4.0 and it'll all fit G
  13. Glad you like it I really like the Ashcroft locker ?
  14. I ran a crowder cam that gave more bottom end. Have a search through my posts for a model #. I now run a Kent in my p38's 4.6 G
  15. Looks interesting. How much machining on the hub - I'm guessing the back part to bolt on a disc ? In a side note, does anybody know what discs the Zeus kit used ? They appear to fit over the hub. G
  16. Sorry, I can't seem to see what make of conversion you've gone for ? Where did you order from and what discs came with? Cheers Gordon
  17. Just curious, for those of us that have never used a cnc machine before. How hard is it to learn something like this Mach 3 ? Is the freebie version ok for basic cutting ? G
  18. Correct. Bendtech has a few options which are listed on their site. I've got the sheet metal add on for mine which I use a bit. It'll pay for itself in not too long. And give you the ability to bend complicated parts which aren't easy without it! G
  19. Am i understanding this correct : You want an air con pump for air con as well as a second air con pump for OBA ? For the time that the OBA compressors run you'll be find running it and a second alternator off a single V belt. FWIW, i much prefer the air con pumps over the 12v compressors. I have this setup in my truck, but have a 12v compressor wired / plumbed in as backup due to the importance of OBA. G
  20. We used to burn all the swarf machined from magnesium.... Always impressive ?? G
  21. Very nice. Why not use angle iron on the ends to give it some rigidity ? G
