Les Henson
Bizzy bizzy bizzy this weekend - no peace for the wikkid etc I finally got all the bits I need to fix the Free S3 and the TD engine that's plonked in catflap. TD bits:- Remove head and sump, pop out the pistons, replace rings, re-seat valves, replace the timing belt and tensioner, crank woodruff keys, along with timing belt, new inner and outer crank seals, crank sprocket, camhaft seal too, plus all necessary gaskets. Make new chassis mounts to sit the engine in the correct position. The Free S3:- Dress the cylinder bore, replace the wrecked piston, replace both valves for No1 cylinder, and re-grind all of them, reassemble the engine and run for a while. Arrange for MOT early next week. So, what are you doing this weekend? Les

The leaks not too bad but, I'm off to Libya in four weks so don't want to take any chances. Still got a few other things to check/ service in prep for the trip. 02GF74
- might lift the tarpaulin off the snakey to work on that - needs [paint tidy, a hole patching (undecided how I will do that) and civ lensts to fit. - see if I have a water leak from inlet manifold - finish off dash? - go for a ride on the mtb A TOP TIP. replace both valves for No1 cylinder, and re-grind all of them, Since I had 16 valves to grind in, I used fine grinding paste (jeweller's rouge actually), wrapped some inner tube on the valve stem and spun the valves in a cordless drill - worked well and much quicker than by hand especially since I did not have the suction cup tool. (the inner tube prevents marking the valve stem - no guesses how I figured that out)
