The main reason i got into Land rovers was due to the need to tow a horse trailer.

First one was a 200tdi disco, then a 200tdi 110.

Only thing i would say is be aware of the towing weights, Xtrails and freelanders are only upto 2000kg.

You will have to check what weight the horse trailer and horses is, otherwise you may exceed this, it also gets all abit iffy with the legalities.(i believe that they count the max weight, ie 2 horses, if there's any "problems", even if you only carry one).

If you have a modern lightweight Ifor esque trailer, they are lighter, but when loaded with two reasonable size horses(depndant on horse, could be 750kg each), you will be very close to 2000kg.

We had a old Rice behind a 110, when the horse moved in the trailer you would know about it, the 110 could easily tow the weight(max weight 3500kg legally).

Having said all this i know that lots of people do use lightweight 4x4's to tow horses, personally i would consider an older disco for the same money.

Either look at the title page shown on the LHS topish bit (on IE7)

or

Try saving it to "Favourites" and see what it gives as the tilte page

Nige

even saved to favorites & opened from there it just shows a black screen, with nothing on it. but the title is

'Worldwide Lucas Electrics Lovers' Fan Page' :hysterical:

Occasionally jessops do well, however its only when they match internet prices. I have also found as a semi-pro photographer that jessops is mainly staffed by badly informed muppets, this isnt always the case but its fairly normal.

Personally i import stuff direct from HK, or buy from specialist suppliers around the UK if my man in HK cant get it.

Don't know a lot about the X-trail but would back up the comments questioning the towing credentials and indeed most of the new breed of 'soft-roader' IMHO they are not really designed with towing large weights and the towing figures back this up, generally most seem to be around the 2t mark.

Currently we use an old classic to tow the horses and before that disco,90 or 110 and when i was looking to replace the company car i had good look round to see if i could get a suitable replacement to give the old girl an easier time but struggled to find anything with a similar towing weight.

I wouldn't necessarily rule it out but i would want a test tow before i committed i reckon.

Personally i'd be looking for a bit more possibly LR, Patrol or Land Cruiser - designed to do the work. Double cabs didn't have the weight limit and work have just disposed of a six month old Nissan in favour of the 4yr old commercial disco as it's better up to towing - lots of problems with the double cab not being up to the job mainly on gearing and clutch

Finding your favourite off road TV prgram can be a real pain. Often repeated but often missed because you didn't know it was on.....

I stumbled across this great On line TV guide which is fully configurable to meet your needs and it means you need never miss that great 4X4 or off roading program.

http://www.digiguide.com/index.shtml

Once downloaded and installed, typing in "4x4", "Land Rover" or "off road" into the search box brings up all forthcoming programmes with those words in the programme description and I found several programmes due to be on that will be of interest to all armchair off roaders like me......

One of them I found was that Baja GB 2006 is on Sky Sports Extra on 26th Feb at 5pm and another when the test of the Discovery 3 is on Top Gear again (several times on UKTV G2!!!)

Free trial for thirty days and then £8.99 for a full years subscription. I should point out I have no connection with these folks other than as a satisfied cutomer.

Only one nag, (Welsh Section D 15hh) and a light trailer (Bahill), but I'm still heeding the warnings on towing capacity.

I'll keep you posted on what they get in the end and how it turns out.

cheers

MJ

1. Drivers who use rear fog lights when there isn't any need or they haven't read the Highway Code properly.

2. Inconsiderate drivers who don't acknowledge you letting them in, waiting for them.

3. Poor service.

4. The fuse in the 110's fusebox that insists on repeatedly popping out and disabling my lights.

5. Cluster headaches. (long story)

6. People who park right next to you in an empty car park.

7. Hypocrites.

That feels a bit better. Thanks!

As for the wife....

1. Over reacting.

2. Over simplifying DIY jobs.

But, she's relaxed with the 110 and the time I spend, so I shouldn't moan. And she didn't baulk at the cost of the last service.

The kit is the same, PRO stuff certainly carries international warranties, and most consumer stuff does too these days and its not to say they wont fix it even if it is imported, you just might have to pay.

There are very few pitfalls, use a reputable seller and it couldnt be easier - it can be a big risk the first time with large sums and unknown dealers but i took the plunge years ago and have not looked back, i also rarely get charged duty or vat, which makes it even sweeter :)

Well at the moment

I am at work and its 35 degrees and my wifes family are swimming in my pool , drinking my beer , eating my food cooked on my new BBQ

And who's going to have to clean the pool and the BBQ when they get home ;)

Ok, what annoys me? Here's some:

  • Having a bolt shear just before it comes undone - WHY couldn't it have done it earlier!!!
  • Drivers that do 25mph on open roads and then speed up to 40 in 30 zones
  • Any oil change
  • Grey Squirrels - the damage they do is unreal!

You say you have no link to these folks, yet it sounds REALLY scripted....

I say I have no link because I have no link, other than as I say as a satisfied customer and I resent the inference that I do in your post.

I REALLY don't tell lies. I actually work for the NHS and have no connection with this company what so ever.
