Maverik
Now I've seen this truck a few times but never managed to get a photo.... finally did, it's not great but it's a start!
Yostumpy
a) its probably illegal b) hope he dosen't sit at 70mph on the m/way too often, its bound to overheat, even tho its relatively new.
jai_landrover
its similar to a military front bulbar so doubt it will overheat they used them in Afghanistan on 300tdi's Not sure exactly how he mounted it but looks ok to me. not sure about the insurance aspect tho
western
Snatch LR's used to have a spare mounted on the front. no idea if it's road legal in UK/Europe for private vehicles, I would guess not.
Disco-Ron
No one ever questions the legality of an old vs van with a wheel on the front.....
Scotts90
Seen many a veedub with front mount spare wheel.Does look daft IMO on the defender although it'd be good for gently nudging the odd obstacle out the way
mickeyw
Now if it were mounted in the was the 109" Pinkies were I'd consider it not friendly for the road. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4132/4841397687_e14bcb518a_z.jpg

Tanuki
Putting weight right out the front like that's not going to do the overall stability any good. Heavy things should be kept within the vehicle wheelbase.

Tell that to a great many winch bumper makers for Discoveries, I got a pic somewhere of a 300Tdi disco with what resembles a nose cone Mind you, why put it there unless space in the back was an issue? For sure premature rear door deaths accepted! Next time Chris stop an ask him why

Happyoldgit
I dare say he will be left alone to happily trundle around in it, the crunch will come regarding the legalities and insurance if he is involved in any kind of serious accident or collision [no pun intended]. Retroanaconda
He could mean illusive, as in relating to an illusion Though I also suspect elusive was the aim!

Mike Ive never got it either , if its a cloning thing then they could just as easily spot a similar vehicle when driving about ? As for the legality of a front mounted spare , if no dangerous projection eg radiused , and no obscuration of obligatory lights thru the required angles of view then don't see a problem
