  1. You can use the rear Axel to change your 90 to rear disk brake Diffs could be the same as yours..
  2. You can pull one of the vents out and get your hand behind to push it out.
  3. Yes you can. If you can get it off that is
  4. Not sure about TD5 discovery in as much as do they have air bags fitted as standard. If your vehicle is not fitted with air bag in the steering wheel then you can remove the steering wheel and reposition it so everything is pointing in the right direction. If it has an air bad I really would not touch it. Bear’s solution is the way to go, but if you do it yourself you may mess up the tracking. There is nothing wrong but if it bothers you (I know it does me) you’re best bet is pop it along to somewhere who deals with tracking for them to adjust it for you. I know the last time I had my tracking corrected for me after replacing all the track rod ends I was asked if my steering wheel was set level when driving in a straight line.
  5. I use PKB Auto's not far from Wantage (south of Oxford) For both my Range Rovers He is a nice chap and in my humble option does a good job, he hid my filler behind the fuel filler flap and the work in the engine bay is very tidy. I had a solenoid fault and he fixed it very quickly with no hassles at all. Paul Booker 07880547910 If you call tell him Mark Bailey gave you the number
  6. I have a Detroit locker in the rear of my Range Rover and find it does what it says on the tin, very pleased with it. As Plasticbadger says it’s a fit and forget You can hear it working when cocking the back leg but apart from that you would not know its there. I wouldn’t have one fitted in the front as they tend to fight you when turning so when the ground gets slippery it wants to keep you going in a straight line, not so good Another good thing about the Detroit is that it’s effectively locked all the time and only releases when unequal pressures builds to a point where the locker slowly releases and allows one of the wheels to turn. This in my view saves half shafts, transmission etc. I have never snapped my standard halfshafts I don’t think it of a cheap alternative to the air or electric locker just an alternative. Air or electric lockers could be used when you are stuck and in my view that’s to late.
  7. Smoke air coming out of the oil filler is a sign of a tired engine. Pressure is escaping back past the rings and pressurising the block Or a blocked breather Not all that good. Sorry
  8. I have a set of Insa Sahara not bad off road, seem to grip well, I have used them in mud and snow, and they seem to hold up quite well on side slops. They are wearing well considering the road mileage covered on them to get to some of the trips I've been on. I have had better but not for the price. But Dam they are noisy on the road which after awhile gets on your tits, people will hear you coming. Would I buy them again? No Why? Because of the use my truck differently now I brought them because I was trying out a few pay and play sites and ripped a chunk out of the side wall of a expensive tyre which had only covered a couple of thousand miles. For the money and the use you intend to use them for, I think they work well as a mud relocation tool.
  9. Check the kick down cable
  10. I currently have two range rovers and I have converted both to run on LPG. With absolutely no problem at all, the classic does do more miles to the gallon than the P38. So the claw back time on the investment for the P38 is longer. I tend to do a lot of miles in my vehicles so it’s an economical thing for me to do. If your not knocking up the miles or don’t intend to keep the vehicle don’t bother. Buying one already converted. I could recommend someone in my area that I use for the conversions and servicing, very reasonable, really knows what he is doing. If you’re in the Wiltshire or Oxfordshire area let me know.
  11. Please excuse a possibly silly suggestion. Brakes? Could be dragging for a bit until the disk is clear, some disks can get surface rust over night depending on the pads that are used. Like I said could be a silly suggestion but when you say cold I take it its been sat for a bit.
  12. Yes that works a treat.. Quick flick of the ignition switch and off it pops. make sure you fix the socket / braker bar so it does not jump off. Doing it back up is a different matter.. I had to jam a good shaped tool into the starter ring to lock the engine.
  13. I do believe a 4 bolt will fit without any problem.
  14. Things that make you go Hummm And they want how much. That going to stick to the forecourt
  15. Generally its about a litre between low and high
  16. I’m sure someone will buy them – seen on a land rover near you… Yikes
  17. I believe pattern parts have there uses, where ever possible I try to use non branded original like coopers for filters, Timkins, GKN for bearings, UJ's E.T.C. I have used some pattern parts and found them to be just as good, over time you get to know what is good and what to avoid. However there are a few areas where I will not use pattern parts and brakes are one of them it's really not worth the saving.
  18. Very well put also very entertaining and funny to read I left this forum once because of the way some people were posting replies to member's questions I rejoined a couple of years later to see things haven't changed much during my absence. It's a credit to this forum and the moderators if they have made this effort I applaud you
  19. Before spending loads of time and money pulling anything apart or expecting the worst I would replace the push rod as it’s the cheep option. Turn it over by hand before starting just to make sure, if it stops you have a bigger problem. I had a timing belt go while ticking over and bent four push rods.. no damage to valves or piston’s I was lucky and as far as I know the engine is still going strong. You may well be lucky also.
  20. I have been told the screw won’t come out because of the ball on the end. Try and soak it in penetrating oil and hold Allen bolt and work the nut OR take the top plate off the steering box and hold the ball in a vice (very painful) and free nut of that way Don't over tighten or your spend all your time correcting the steering while driving as it wont centre as well Surprised you think there is slack in steering box though best check all the ball joints first on the steering rods.
  21. I believe that Safari made the off road gear for land Rover L322 for the G4 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), I remember being told that Safari were not allowed to market the gear for the L322. If you're after one, Safari would be my first start http://www.safarisno...land_rover.html Next stop Land Rover G4 Challenge http://origin.landro...4challenge.com/ (quite a cool web site)
  22. Not had any experience in tuning V8’s however with that said I have had experience with tuning motorcycles.. and the bigger the air box the better for instant response, snap throttle. Really don’t know if one shape is better than the other but bigger is better..
  23. Personally I would go for original items and seal kit. They have lasted this long already.
