  1. Better to use the bumper mounts as the fixing for some brackets, you might modify an old A-bar or something..... I take it this is just for recovery? or do you plan to do the lights and brakes as well?
  2. If that one was cheap then this one is pretty good as well? No... link thing not happening, try a search for 130 pick up on www.donedeal.ie
  3. My eyesight isn't good enough to see the detail in your avatar Daan! I'll have to take your word for it
  4. Surely any light source above dashboard level will reduce your night vision outside the vehicle?
  5. But did you sell like that or has the new owner turned it into an off-roader??
  6. I don't think its that refined, its just a marker recording the export of the vehicle. If the relevant section of the V5C has never been filled in and filed then there will be no export certificate.
  7. Looks like a regular rubber trim to me,.... looks easier to pull up on the inside, ... trial and error job probably; you are going to need some small thin bits of wood to help keep it started if you are not used to doing them.
  8. There are better vehicles out there but not many
  9. The trailer tow hitch (and the vehicle tow bar for that matter) have maximum design vertical loads, for a big hitch (eg 3.5t) it is usually 150kg max. more than that can affect the sliding capability and obviously then the braking. Individual trailer models (whether factory built with EU type approval, or one off designs) will have a maximum allowable figure (usually in the range 50 to 100 kg) based on the drawbar design , hitch capability and axle configuration. One of the attractions of 5th wheel design is that the drawbar or gooseneck transfers much more significant proportion of the load to an 'ideal' point on the vehicle.
  10. Meant to add in response to an earlier post that the Ifor tri-axles wouldn't be 4.5t because the brakes are smaller, twins have 250mm brakes, tri's have 200mm brakes, you would have to swop axles (which would fit) to get 4.5t and for what its worth have a large tyre budget!, they hate being pulled sideways under max payload.
  11. I have long been interested in fifth wheels for defenders, try 'vipex.co.uk' for some seriously expensive food for thought. (no joy with the link function today!) Try a search for 'land rover fifth wheel', 'articulated land rover', and 'mini artic' (exclude arctic), there have been lots over the years, generally the trailer stays 3.5t and the tow vehicle bears the extra payload on the fifth wheel or goose neck; although some Iveco combos I have seen up to 12t! The Fifth Wheel Company in Wales do mainly caravans but have done a few trailers. I think the main reason it is not popular in the UK is precisely because it is a bit of a grey area. The companies that do it serve a niche market and charge royally for it, but one day I'll do my own
  12. Hmmm, with the price of hairspray these days and the grief potential I think I'd have the relays
  13. You have the right of it IMHO, it wasn't off the market until it was paid for, end of...... If he is peeved at anyone, he is probably mostly peeved at himself for not extracting his digit and sorting it, and then taking it out on you.
  14. I guess I still have much to learn...... I don't compete or anything ...... I watched and enjoyed the clip .... and I am still totally clueless as to 'plucks' and 'Brisks' ???? In my simple way I still sort of think the answer is 'clean', just not sure
  15. I don't have sunroof(s) but I had exactly the same when the screen was leaking in the top corner, a watering can should should show it up.
  16. I've got NEE and NAH, its a funny thing but when I found a 'proper' two tone horn advertised on an ex-mod website, it never occurred to me it was that sort of two tone !!!
  17. Check out the bulb holder, they give trouble..... at least mine do.
  18. I need to do my D2, but its one of those jobs I really hate to contemplate, i.e. not one I can sort with a spanner or a hammer . No one makes a decent replacement I suppose?
  19. You see buses in the far east a bit like that,... I can't help wondering what it all weighs though, can't be good for the mpg!
  20. As I said once before, I don't have any tooling for my mill, but I look at the latest pic above and wonder whether I do in fact have something very cheap and readily available?
  21. Well, you were no doubt warned when younger that it could affect your eyesight!
  22. Dave is right, do it while you are there, maybe it wasn't leaking before but it is old .
