  1. Same experience for me, options explained, requirements met
  2. Useful ? http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/T4B...feat=directlink
  3. keep going until either the oil light comes on or your arse starts twitching
  4. Wow - if ever a topic failed to live up to its subject heading...
  5. Or option b: say they've been sexually harassing you and have them all arrested as a precaution. Never can be too careful ! Bit of a leap though, isn't it, assuming they're casing the joint in order to rob you ? What gave it away - was it the stripey tops and masks they were all wearing ?
  6. Don't fly over blind crests without checking what's on the other side first
  7. Also http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Thumbs up for the Clarke 135TE as a "starter" MIG. Bought from MachineMart, but found cheaper elsewhere after. Stick the model number into Google shopping as a starter.
  8. Gwyn Lewis guard is top, and you can get the TRE end off no problem (full steering lock on helps, no need to remove the wheel). Loosen it up by slackening the bolts if need be.
  9. Angle-grinder bit looks identical to the one I bought from Westfalia. It's OK, if you tighten it up and for a tenner it's pretty handy...
  10. If it helps, big list of tyre reviews here (down the right-hand side) http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT-Tires/
  11. I'm all for a revamp, but why move the steering wheel to the left ? That's just plain weird....
  12. I bent both (track rod first, straightened by Ian) and then the drag link (replaced, too far gone). To protect the track rod, which is lower, I fitted this superb bit of kit. http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/page29.html
  13. I got a pair of Sumo's from www.4allfours.co.uk - they are close to me, and I was able to go see Ian and pick them up. He straightened them for me when I bent them too. While a lot stronger than normal, don't presume a tree stump won't bend them pretty badly if you catch it the right way, so consider a bash plate as well.
  14. One of his "other items" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Marriage-saver-Remot...2|39:1|240:1318
  15. Steve at crowndiffs was a really helpful guy when I asked about my Detroit locker. Well recommended
  16. I've never had a lambada sensor. I just keep an eye out for Gloria Estefan manually...
  17. I'd forget to drain the oil, but nice idea
  18. Not a great solution for the requirements, but it might set of some thoughts going for others.... The iPhone has a superb GPS application. And it's free - apart from the cost of the phone of the course, but the phone does loads of other handy things. All on one in-pocket device... Not so good abroad for the maps though, if you are paying data roaming charges, but for UK users it's a nice option. Just a thought http://gps.motionx.com/video/
  19. Is that a strengthened diff pan, and where did you get it ? Thanks for the writeup
  20. FWIW, I've a Detroit Locker in the rear of my 90 and it's superb. I've noticed my turning circle can increase a bit in the muck, but that would possibly be worse with a front locker in. Can't praise the rear detroit enough
  21. Offer cash to a forum regular if necessary. No substitute for experience ! Wish I'd had one when I bought my lemon, but it's all sorted now. The main thing was there was no rust on the chassis/bulkhead, most mechanicals can be sorted (and, generally, relatively cheaply).
  22. Only one rear would have been driving, unless you've fitted an aftermarket locker such as ARB, KAM or Detroit. Standard diff lock only means a "guarantee" of one wheel on each axle turning. From your pic, it should have been the NSR spinning. Get a mate to watch, or set up the video camera going
  23. Postage to Inverness was a bit steep for 2 terrafirma's, mounts and spring hangers. He told me that his courier will charge you another fiver for delivery if you aren't there to sign for it when they come ! Not sure how that pans out up here, where the locals take over. I'd give him a ring to discuss. Despite the postage cost, the service was exceptional and I'll be going back.
  24. Best advice here is to decrypt the encrypted partition first. Software like HDclone don't always do a sector-by-sector copy, and if they don't do that then you're stuffed with the encryption. (of course, if your encrypted volume is a container file then that should still work fine). Sounds very risky to me however, as your eggs are out of the basket while you build a new basket. Or to put it another way, clone it to another HD, borrow a USB from a friend, backup anything you don't want to lose before etc etc..
