  1. Oh Yes !! Please note that in Summer the ferries are busy and without reservations you may find it difficult to iskand hop..
  2. TBH, I'd forget the Sankey and get a nice 1 axle trailer. Legally, they can go uo to 1750 - 1800 kgs and all the hard work has been done. Saris has a 310 x 150 1-axle trailer that is 1.750 kgs. mam and that should be more than enough. A good 2-axle trailer frame is just as suitable. But the frame is less than half of tha well know Sankey, much lower and bits are sold everywhere. Any, I'm looking forward to the build !!
  3. OH yes - a GREAT place to go to ! Please keep the pics coming - there is snow outside !
  4. Yes, winch drums can rust through although it takes some time etc. for it to happen. If you pay out a lot of line, it can become an issue, esp. with skock loads because the last layer pushes directly into the drum. Some form of treatment could be wise.
  5. Size matters.... 😎 I love the luton style horse boxes over there - but getting them on FR plates is a nightmare.. Hope the build goes well.
  6. Oh yes - this is awesome. The horsebox in one of the pics is also yours ? We had a DAF 45 back in Holland as the Mrs. was always en route with the horses and hates trailers so I told her to get an HGV licence, and she did. Loved friving the thing. Getting it on French plates was a huge problem but somebody bought it and is still driving it to this very day. We now have an 5.5 tonnes IVECO and she's very happy with it. I have converted 2 lorries for friends to move horses and be comfortable living quarters (one had a waterbed) and I really would like to get one ourslves again. Question is : do I convert an 4x4 truck or take a 2WD one and carry the 88 in the back ? Hmm.... Please, keep it coming.
  7. Please keep them coming..... Both the Mrs. and me have a full HGV licence and this is really what I'd love to build. ...including a garage for the 88 in the back..... Think a 8 mtr. bay should do nicely...
  8. What sort of trailer are we talking about ? - car transporter type - live stock - general cargo What size floor are we talking about ?
  9. It's not easy to find a good transport company these days.....
  10. They are fun to drive ! Our V2 petrol engine died (crankshaft ate itself out ofthe block) and as you cannot get parts forthat engine, we replaced it with a diesel power pack and for 150 hrs. or so that worked just fine. Unfortunatly, the engine stopped working and so far I haven't found the cause. Controls? I drive all kinds of things and it is just a bit of getting used to. To have it either electric or hydro powered would be great - but at the moment I just want thet @$@%@% diesel engine to get to work. Please keep us posted !!
  11. ArgoCats run on diesel engines... Well, ours did until the engine died... The are very much fun !
  12. It is doable, of course, but I wonder why you'd like to swop ?
  13. As I said, he's busy.. I will not comment on other suppliers - esp. a well known one. Ebay is a gamble...
  14. Should, read carefully, should be OK if what you call is diesel with an additive to make it labelable as "bio-diesel".
  15. I get anything transmission from Synchro (Shabs) in Wales. Very happy with what I got so far - and a nice bloke to work with. He's very busy, but talking directly to him will probably help. In December, I'm collecting an R380 from him for another project. Driving over to Wales to collect it should tell you something.
  16. We have the LT77 in several vehicles that covered many more miles that you describe and never had problems. The obvious thing is to do is using the best quality oil you can afford. We change oil in the boxes & diffs every 20k miles (engines 10k miles) and they are still going strong. The one box we had to change was the Series one after 150k miles, 30 years of abuse, submerging and all the other sh.. we could get ourselves into... I'd seriously consider another source for your transferbox readings about your problems..
  17. We find the CN stuff usually do the job.
  18. Well Done - looks very nice now ! Have one of those awaiting a bench to attach it to that is sturdy enough..
  19. With the Series III, one replaces the complete unit AFAIK. No need to take it apart
