  1. Its the new baby Rangy, there's pics like that in this months LRO (not that I buy magazines you understand ) Mo
  2. I'd recommend a butter knife, a teaspoon or a small ladle for the doors and save the ignition keys for the ignition. Mo
  3. Steer clear of Footman James. I ended up with renewal through them as they had bought out my previous insurers, Firebond, who were superb ! Their last question on the phone was - " do you ever drive off road ? " to which I replied an honest yes . The girl then told me that they couldn't insure me. Wouldn't give a reason either ! I voted with my feet (well, I didn't have a lot of choice did I ). So if you are looking for insurance for your Land Rover (an off road vehicle) AVOID FOOTMAN JAMES
  4. Your local Timpsons/shop that repairs shoes, cuts keys etc will be able to cut new ignition keys from the old one. HTH Mo
  5. I suspect the wiggle may be the trailing arm bushes needing replacement. The shake can be caused by dying propshaft UJ, tracking out or as young Ross says above , a missing weight. Time to get underneath HTH Mo
  6. I got some of my best ideas from dear Vlad How is he Paul ? Mo
  7. Fantastic scenery as ever Barros ! That's a huge group of cars though !!!!!!! I hope I can go back and spend a couple of weeks just in the north next time Mo
  8. About time parliament passed an act allowing the beheading of thieves and those who handle stolen goods. Their heads could be placed on posts outside their victims premises "pour encourager les autres " There's a lot to be said for Amazonian tribesmen ... Mo
  9. Yes and no A 300 Tdi wheel will not fit onto your column as it has the wrong number of splines (assuming you still have the original '86 column). However it appears that recently Land Rover have made some 300 type wheels with the correct number of splines for your column. Good luck finding one The normal TD5 steering wheel with the big pad in the middle will however fit straight on to your column. Easy choice HTH Mo
  10. On these jobs, Land Rover character is built Mo
  11. Billy, To do the job properly you need a complete kit like this. SteveG fitted one to his TD5 90 and it comes with ALL the bits to do the job properly. I was impressed enough to recommend it HTH Mo
  12. Which engine do you have and what parts do you have ? Mo
  13. Just like that I used the skinny wires and didn't have a problem, perhaps I was lucky Mo
  14. When I first used a TD5 clock a few years back, I used a computer lead that goes from cd to sound card which is exactly the same except that it has 4 wires. 30 seconds with a file and I had a 3 wire connector for the clock You'll get one of these leads for literally pennies at your local small computer shop (don't ask at PC World, they'll just get confused ). HTH Mo
  15. I agree with John - wheel bearing It also took me a lot of brake bleeding to discover that wheel bearings can cause spongy brakes Mo
  16. Blimey Prith, what was he doing to the vin plate to break it ? Mo
  17. Morning chaps, many thanks for your replies. What I'm actually looking for is experience of front guards for the drag link and steering damper and I didn't make that clear in my first post, doh! Going without is a no-no, I've walloped this area to many times in the past So, what looks good, what's well engineered, what fits a treat, whats incredibly strong, whats competitively priced ? Tell me whats good and help me avoid spending money on carp I already have a track rod guard and the old track rod has been replaced with a sumo bar.
  18. You can never have too many little plastic clips Ralph Mo
  19. Mr Ashcroft should be able to help with some of those too, Ross. Mo
