  1. erberspacher heaters are superb, fridge freezer is the man to speak to,i sold him one a couple of years ago.british telecom vans have them fitted in the rear, they do come up second hand but make sure you get everything as it comes out.not hard to fit,i assume you have a diesel engine, there are some petrol powered units about, they were fitted to southern electric 130 crew cabs.
  2. you said you have been down the earth route, have you tried fitting an additional earth, for what it will cost it is worth doing.
  3. bunch of girls, whats wrong with doing them on an angle grinder?
  4. well said, until the advent of sva there were many legally built hybrids, not neccesarily tax exempt, but of course the arm chair experts jump on the "ringer" bandwagon, they seem to forget some of us have been around landrovers for 20+years.
  5. i have fitted them to the inside of machine houses on plant, the currently looking is just that, looking for something as near to ideal to illuminate the winch
  6. i would happily pay a monthly subscription, but as my access has been limited by certain mods,i woudn,t be getting the same value as other members.
  7. carver clamps are used in the fabrication industry, not cheap they they last and do not deform when used to clamp materials for welding,as g clamps tend to,personally if you buy g clamps from b+q and expect them to last tnen you will be disapointed, they are the b*itpa*t of the tool world.
  8. may be all is not as it seems!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. most likely because needle rollers were missing and the grease you pump in forces the needles to miss-align and push there way out
  10. suitable size steel is available from hydraukic hose suppliers if you cant find anything, try dj last landrovers,01449 616096,he can convert you discovery box to defender gear stick position, chris.
  11. there were some light armoured 110,s in northen ireland, had salisburys on the front and rear with a v8 engine, probably used the gearbox you have, they were all disposed of about 5 years ago.
  12. why?it is the most expensive manual box to rebuild, some of the parts are now obsolete,i have two of them in my hoard of carp, both need stripping and rebuilding, have you any experience of lt85,s?.the r380 is far superior.
  13. cebora make damned good welding machines,i had a 160 snap on mig made by cebora for 16 years, recently sold it on to a mate as i wanted a bigger machine.
  14. where in norfolk are you, niel who runs hoseflex in bury st edmunds will make the hoses up for you and not charge pirtek gold plated prices, alternatively amber hydraulics in felixstowe are also highly recomended, chris.
  15. don,t know about the orange gas bottle, but i recognise the orange discovery in the back ground, how is your build progressing?
  16. i live in felixstowe and have friends who work for various containershipping lines, and a mate who loads vehicles in containers for a living too,pm me if you want specific help.
  17. to back up what luke said,i have just signed up for evening class to learn tig, there is a compamy called mta in southampton that do a good dc hf tig/mma for £582+vat,with a two year warranty and proper back up,this also is an inverter based arc set, they work much nicer than old fashioned transformer arc welders.i bought my oxford mig through mta and wouldn,t hesitate to recomend them.
  18. safety devices as they were no longer exist, the 01638 number is long gone, production was moved to poland some years ago, frogs island were supplying there stuff, not sure if they still do,they had perhaps the worst quality powder coating ever!i fitted many of there cages to rally cars during the 90,s.
  19. simon,my point is that regardless of being oe spec or genuine they must be fit for purpose, when a part is so obviously unfit for purpose then the manufacturer must be taken to task, hence why i would pass it on to trading standards.
  20. i would pass it straight to trading standards as it is a safety critical part, that way something might be done about these substandard parts.
  21. an equivalent sized donalson pre filter is £38,comparable quality.
  22. what absolute rubbish, devon charge what they think they can get away with, plus they have to pay for all there adverts in the comics,as i see it they are going down the same road as srap iron did, just without the orange paint.
