  11. not wishing to pour scorn on your idea, but having worked as a heavy plant fitter, when our machines were stolen, trying to get the police to respond is difficult, even then there is no guarantee they will let you have the vehicle back.i spent a day down in essex once trying to collect one of our stolen mini diggers, very frustrating and very hard work.

  13. as you had obviously no intention of buying it,why all the commotion?i am pretty sure every one that uses this forum is familiar with the law as it stands,do you trawl ebay looking for ads of this type?perhaps your time would be better spent polishing your rivets!!
  14. in the raf they were known as avdel clamps, which i assume is a trade name.
  15. cooper and fram have made the genuine part in the past, not sure at the moment, mann is also a reputable brand, also the same filter head has been used by jcb and mccormac, either of those branded ones are good too.basically any known brand, not sure about ones in blue boxes though.
  16. mine is a brick building on a farm, about 420 sqr ft,with light and power, costs me £10 per week been in there for 7 years now.
  17. i disagree,a few years ago one of the more common faults with 300tdi,s was for the p gasket to fail, the coolant would seep away, temp guage did not register, next thing over heating, usually a cracked cyl head, most owners would say the guage never went in to the red,for the record i must have repaired at least a dozen due to this.
  18. if you loose all the coolant the needle will drop, the sender senses coolant temp not metalwork temp.
  19. one of the changes being implemented is for all comp motors under msa juristiction will have to have a log book as rally cars do now,as no one can presently prove when the truck was built in future to pass scrutineering all motors will have to meet all current regs.
  20. thankyou simon,at least now someone else has heard the same rumblings about fia compliance as me,it is going to hit rallying and circuit racing big time, the bit about grandfather rights going is the worst bit.
  21. i have been talking to an msa scrutineer today, according to him grandfather rights are going to disapear, basically if the scrutineer don,t like it you want be able to play, unless the cage meets all the new criteria and drawings, apparantly this has come from a meeting after the 2011 yearbooks were printed.as i said in an earlier post the msa have lagged behind fia amendments and they have been instructed to comply or else.
  22. i have never dealt with rakeway, but jeremy fearn is a true gent,it is a shame not more traders are like him.
  23. if you read the start of the thread he tried to start it,it turned over slowly, having repaired a 300 tdi in january in similar circumstances it had jumped the belt, but hey what do i know.
  24. let it thaw completely,if you are lucky it won,t jump the timing belt, checking antifreeze should be routine when you buy any vehicle!!!!!!!with over 3000 posts to your name i thought that would have been obvious
