  1. Nonimouse this is slanderous internet bull***t, come and see our racks of thousands of Timken bearings, we also use Koyo and NKE bearings, NKE for the R380 rear support bearings which are better than the genuine RHP bearings landrover used and are specially made for us, the other brands of these are rubbish, we tested them all. We make our own baulk rings and buy about 30,000 at a time, not because we can get them cheaper, its because all other brands are rubbish. Our gears are made in Turkey, this is no secret, I am proud to use this supplier, their production methods are state of the art, good communications, good prices and great quality, who else can manufacture custom gears sets like the 1.100 and 1.301. We have new products coming which take the engineering to another level, we don't just paint them a different colour and give them a silly name like some. You mention cheap Turkish oil seals, all ours are Corteco, thats the best. We have never been so busy are upping our production from 20 to 25 gearboxes a day, July (Mid Covid) was our biggest ever month in business, this is not because we sell cheap rubbish as you suggest, Your comments have no truth, you have irritated me, keep your LT77. Roy, I strongly suspect your noises are clutch rattle from the HD clutch, pls return the unit, you can witness it being stripped on the bench, if I am wrong I will eat humble pie, apologise and contribute to your costs, Northwards, pls do the checks we discussed earlier and let me know how you get on. Reb78 yes you had some genuine issues which I apologise for but I did refund you in full after 10 years from purchase. Good night all ! Dave Ashcroft
  2. The 200 mounts will fit the R380, the 380 was designed as a direct drop in, you will also need the use the 380 diff lock linkage
  3. The one in the photo is from a disco, the parts diagram is defender, I don’t think the disco one comes apart .
  4. This wear is common and it is a problem for us but many customers spec the ATB centre diff which gives us a reasonable supply of stock diffs for other rebuilds.
  5. Sorry I forgot you were wanting to put it in a P38, I don’t know of any adapters to do this so it’s 4HP22/24 or make one I think
  6. Look on Facebook for MW machines, Marcus Williams can put Together an M57, 6HP26 and LT230 https://www.facebook.com/837260399956385/
  7. Yes you would need to make a new gate plate to match the ZF detent positions, easier said than done to get right in my experience
  8. The L322 diesel used the GM 5L40E, to put in a P38 you would need an adapter for the back end and a controller to run the autobox, lots of work for a pretty rubbish autobox, not worth it in my opinion
  9. Sorry I can’t explain why, I am not that familiar with the internals but nevertheless it’s the overdrive that’s the problem
  10. Did you change the flange too ? often the seal wears the flange so the new seal doesn’t seat properly
  11. Hi, we have modified some in the past, what do you have and what would you like to achieve ? Dave
  12. Hi, to fit the 4 pin we would usually machine the casing but you are correct it is possible to fit it without doing this if you change the ring and pinion, the one you want is TBH100050, its the same as the stock 3.54 one but the crown wheel is about 4mm thinner to adjust for the different P38 crown wheel offset Dave
  13. we seem to have gone off on a bit of a tangent as the new Defender isn't electric ! bit concerned to read of the diesel in engine oil contamination on the Ingenium engines, I really hope this is resolved on the new Defender, does anyone have any insights on this ?
  14. are you filling it with the sump horizontal ? the output flanges sit much lower in the vehicle,
  15. I dont think they really caught on, from what I remember they were either too loose and slipped excessively like these or they were too tight and didnt slip at all, defeating the object.
  16. you can use this flywheel, adapter ring and LT77 bell housing but you have to redrill the flywheel and fit the 9.5" diameter clutch from the 4 cyl Dave
  17. the lock ring is skipping over the side gear engagement teeth when loaded, thats what making the ticking noise, Dave
  18. Hi, I suspect the arm that flicks the reverse idler gear has come off the gear and the lever then cant return, I think you will have to strip the box, Dave
  19. Hi all, a short note to make you aware we have recently taken delivery of two new LT230 ratios we have designed and made. One is 1.100 : 1, ideal for those with tuned TD5 Discos or tuned TDCi Defenders who 'want another gear' The other is 1 .301 : 1 ratio, good for those who have put bigger tyres on their Disco or TDCi Defender and find the 1.211 too high, or those with a TDi or TD5 Defender who want to gear it up a little but think the 1.2 ratio may make it a bit too high. please take a look and let me know what you think, New LT230 ratios the ratio calculator is quite useful to see the difference any changes will make : Ratio Calculator Dave Ashcroft Ashcroft Transmissions
  20. Hi, I dont know why it was clocked in Landrovers but it runs flat in most 2 wheel drive applications with a different sump, filter and oil pickup pipe, Dave
  21. Hi, if you are using the M57 and ZF 4HP22/24 see : https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/m57-bmw-engine-to-zf-kit.html Dave
  22. Do you have the short R380 or the ‘normal’ longer bellhousing 300 tdi type ?
  23. Hi, not so much backlash, it’s the crown wheel runout that may need checking Dave
  24. you can use the D1 or D2 disco box to fit our adapter to along with the defender top housing, forget the P38, very different, Dave
