  1. Why not get yourself a second set of rims that will take your tyres of choice... We do.
  2. That's a nice picture !!!! Can you tell more about the 110 please ?
  3. He's the MAN !!!!!! Yes - I used his idea & can't thank him enough !!! What I did though was using the pedal box to fit the heater into. Means serious cutting of bulkhead but it also makes a lot of room free in the engine bay... The blowers move a lot of air - in fact, they caused a "whistle" in the beginning because of some weird turbulence..
  4. You'll be pleased to hear this works on either side.... The red tube is not used for the heater - that is hidden inside the dash ass. and apart from bringing much more air to the windscreen I also created side demisters. Hidden inside the grab handles on either side. Those blowers are moving a serious amount of air.. And draw serious amounts of Amps, too... I never have the blower on full... I people really want, I can try and do a write up of the build of this thing as it is not really standard. Started as a RHD Td5 HCPU and was collected in Ireland and is now a LHD 300 Tdi Hard Top in France...
  5. I just "found" this tread - this is what I did for heating. A seriously enlarged opening for the heater is needed New "box" made As you can see - a nice fit in the passenger footwell. Generates enough heat for the 110 Hard Top to be very, very warm in the Winter and taking it out in - 28 C last year showed the thing works. I have a Webasto engine/ coolant pre-heater that awaits fitting. The secondary battery powers it all and keeps the interior nice and warm at all times. Obviously not a solution for everybody as it involves serious mods (as in : cutting ) to the bulkhead.
  6. What he said. Adding a 3rd battery will just add problems if that leisure battery is kaput.. Get a good new one to replace the leisure one, run the fridge as much with engine running if possible. We see most problems with the clients' vehicles with their electrics, esp. split charge systems. Keep it simple & have fun.
  7. This Summer on Mont Cenis I saw one that was even better... The front Recovery Truck is Towing the second Recovery Truck - and that one has a broken down car on the trailer on the deck....
  8. Job well done. You could consider getting a rain water tank ? free water is always useful... I'm about to move 30 staires of firewood to get us ready for Winter..
  9. Between the fuel lift pump on the side of the engine block and the injection pump.
  10. Take off the Fuel lift pump to injection pump hose and manually operate pump - or crank engine. If diesel comes out, there is a problem between fuel lift pump and injector. No diesel could mean either a dead fuel llift pump or blocked fuel lines. I just had the same and it turned out to be blocked fuelline. Compressed air sorted that for the moment..
  11. I'll have a look - but I remember them to be a twist and pull. Could be wrong though..
  12. Hmm... Expensive. Define Expensive.... Well... Expensive is when you feel that what you pay is not really "in balance" with what you get. Otherwise, it is just money you pay for a job well done you have budget for. I can"t comment on a ukp 8000 quote from a Polish company without knowing more about them but if that includes a rebuild Tf5, LHD conversion, etc. I'd be somewhat sceptical. Look up the price for the parts / engine and do the sums... I have had several big projects done and this sounds to me like not always new warranted parts can be used.. So.... - What is done exactly ? - What quality parts etc. are included ? - Is everything that is fitted new, or reconditioned (by who - some would be avoided as the Plague by me), - OE parts or aftermarket - What paint for the paint job ? - How long is the vehicle away ? - What is when invoiced ? (very few companies will do a project like this without a downpayment / periodic payments) - etc. In short, to say anything useful , much more info is needed.
  13. Hats off for the paperwork Master who got it on Norwegian plates !! Well Done - impressed. I deal with Causeway4x4 (talk to Mr. Clive Young) in the UK a lot and I know they could do the work to a high standard. But this will be a serious money project, where ever it will be done. Good Luck.
  14. What he said.. Quite a few vehicles here on the Continent have nothing on the VIN plate but the VIN number. Most Logbooks will state what the various weights are. If the vehicle has a UK registration now, chances are some of the paperwork will have the various weights. Keep a copy of that with the vehicle.
  15. I think the guy said it right. LR does not really care about business users for their products as they have now no longer "commercial" vehicles to sell with the new Disco IV.
  16. Like said before, lift the front axle off the ground, put the axle on stands and start experimenting... It is actually quite common for the steering ralay arms to be fitted at a 90 degree angle when they shouldn't. Soak the various bolt before trying to undo them. Have fun.
  17. Balancing the trailer is a must. And putting up some markers announcing your overhang is wise. And a legal requirement in many cases on the Continent.
  18. Maximum Trailer Dimensions Towing vehicle up to 3500kg GVW Length (excluding the coupling and drawbar): 7.0m Width Maximum: 2.55m (was 2.3m up to 2010) Towing vehicle over 3500kg GVW Length (excluding the coupling and drawbar): 12m (min 4 wheels Width Maximum: 2.55m Length of towing vehicle and trailer combined: 18m Maximum overhang of load from rear of trailer: 3.05m Marking of rear overhang Between 1m and 2m, ensure the end is clearly visible by attaching a piece of cloth or similar. Between 2m and 3.05m, a marker board as defined in the Regulations must be fitted and illuminated at night. If the overhang is more than 3.05m, an attendant must be carried and the police must be notified 2 days before commencing the journey. "Long Vehicle" Marker Plate: Not required for light trailers. These are a legal requirement only for trailers over 3500kg or where the towing vehicle is over 7500kg gross weight. When they are required, different plates are required depending on the length of the vehicle. Details can be found in the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations, Schedule 18. Loads must not project more than 305mm either side of the trailer, up to a maximum width of 2.9m. Loads over 2.9m in width are classed as abnormal loads and the police must be notified two days before a journey commences. Recommended maximum height: 3.0m high or 1.7 times the wheel track. (horizontal distance between centre lines of tyre treads). There is no legal requirement, but this is an accepted guideline. If however the height does exceed 3.0m then a notice giving the height details must be displayed in the cab of the towing vehicle. (Only buses are subject to a maximum height regulation). http://www.ntta.co.uk/law/law/dimensions.aspx
  19. Talk to Paul and let the pound work for you. http://www.psp-expeditioncampers.com/product/267/0/pspdak110.html He speaks English and the quality of the conversion is very, very good.
