Bearmach

Has anyone else noticed that Bearmach appears to be out of stock of pretty much everything nowadays? I often specify Bearmach from the Britcar website then get an email from Britcar advising that Bearmach have no stock

Wonder if they are in trouble?

It is a very disappointing situation , but a clear sign of the times . They have been going since 1958 and have/had several multi-decade dedicated employees .

There is still a chance an investment group may re-float it , but from what I've heard the owners have already tried very hard to keep it going .

I've spent thousands with them over the years like most Specialists as the parts have been good quality and competitively priced too , the prospect of having just one aftermarket supplier feeding the marque does not fill me with confidence .........

I thought it was owned by Frogs...  But it does explain the appalling quality

They certainly used to be, all became one. Then the garage side was sold off and is now operating on a much smaller scale from Great Shefford next to the petrol station. I think it was about the time I heard britpart had taken over.

They've owned allmakes for a few years now i beleive, just kept it very quiet.

Massive shame about Bearmach. They had some good products like Hawkeye - more reliable than nanocoms rubbish and Total was open across all vehicles and catered for models that GAP didn't cover.

Yeah , about that time ... might even be only 4 years ago .........whenever it was , it  was an early indicator of market stresses for the trade .

The trade has been aware and concerned for the future of BM for sometime now . The combination of Pandemic/post Pandemic supply chain gaps and now the worldwide economic stresses have had a massive impact on aftermarket parts , not just for Land Rovers .

I was struggling to get my trade parts from Bearmach for the last couple of years - the quality of parts declined massively as well to the point I had to stop using them - a lot of Britpart stuff is superior.  I have only just narrowly avoided a destroyed engine after a brand new bearmach coolant overflow Y piece on my 300tdi split and lost a lot of water, unfortunately as I was going up a mountain in the pyreneese and it boiled dry.

It's a pity as thier stuff used to be decent and I liked dealing with thier trade tream - it seems sourcing thier stuff from china became an issue with covid and the subsequent global supply & shipping problems.

I did notice this too; I was used too Timken wheel bearings and Hardy spicer U/Js in the old days.

Last time I ordered, It was all in unbranded boxes. They had the proper branded items as an option on the website, but they were all out of stock.

The unbranded parts are cheaper, but I am not particularly confident of the quality.

Being from Bearmach, I somehow expect it to be better than Britpart, but it could well be the same.

I finish my build and months later they go bust. Coincidence? I think not. I hope Mr Bearmach is enjoying the yacht I bought him.

Shame, but I had noticed a slight dip in quality over the last few months. This leaves almost no choice but genuine parts now. Even these are starting to be difficult to obtain, when they're not charging £98 for a trim retaining clip or £90 for 5 clutch slave cylinder shims.

Allmakes for now still seems like the "premium" Britpart for now. At least for the exhaust centre box I recently fitted, seemed surprisingly well made.

Never had good experiences with Bearmach myself, the only thing I ever ordered there was a replacement upper tailgate for my Classic, and that arrived bent and badly finished...

I think Britpart is pretty good to be honest if you don't just buy the cheapest thing then id say the quality is far better than it used to be. You want to try some of the stuff for normal vehicles the motor factors send out its just like the old days of Britpart.

Some of the Britpart XS stuff is genuine in another box.

EAC seem to make some parts and are decent quality.

I still try to go to Britcar and LRDirect where they tell you the manufacturer rather than supplier (although the lrdirect website seems a bit naff for this at the moment ).

It's used by "shop4autoparts" as a brand. Or it was once.

Quite and it is this to which I refer above. A lot of their EAC branded stuff seems to be reasonable quality and well sourced. I say this from the odd time i have taken a chance on it when the cheapest of cheap britpart has been the only other option so not extensive experience.
