Billing 2007?

Well looks like its back on, this time run by LRM, www.billinglandrovershow.co.uk on the same dates, 20-22 July 2007, as the LRE show at Kelmarsh Hall. So its 2 shows on the same weekend.

So whos going where??

Paul

Oh, how clever, a dilution of traders.

I like plenty of things about the show at Billing which will not be the same at another venue - LRE and the toilets are not among them!

its not just the Traders, but what about clubs as well? But it dose seem a bit far fetched as the both shows are only 18 miles apart.

Paul

If it's true (must look & see who the domain name is registered to), it's just too stupid for words!

Mmmm....looks real.

The web address is registered to "four by four productions ltd" which according to companies house no longer exists, but has been re-named/registered as:

THE GOLDEN GATE PRODUCTION COMPANY LIMITED

THE PUBLISHING HOUSE

2 BRICKFIELDS BUSINESS PARK

WOOLPIT BURY ST EDMUNDS

SUFFOLK IP30 0QS

Company No. 04329763

Which is LRM's address.

Which do I go to then?

Probably doesn't matter as most weekend punters will probably do a day at each, as I doubt each will be big enough for a full weekends entertainment.

Although a lot of people going to the LRE show may well turn up at Billing by mistake looking for the show.

I'm not sure I'm welcome at either if Billing security is the same

Neither ?

What a pathetic bit of sillyness

But then again, are you suprised when you consider the dross that is UK Publications ?

If you as a potential visitor are thinking "Hmmmmmmmmm wot to do" then so will the traders, could be the undoing of both

What a pathetic bit of sillyness, they don't deserve to succeed

Not a million miles from here. Take the Elmswell turning off the A14 heading east, 1st left at the roundabout, over the flyover and left again after you pass the westbound slip.

Which show - not which address!

Smart move if you ask me - when did you last hear anyone talk about 'the LRE show'? The brand in everyones' minds is 'Billing', so by moving straight in there LRM instantly gain most of the mindshare and goodwill associated with the old LRE event.

I wouldn't be surprised if the LRM event thrives and the new LRE one is ignored and peters out.

Would serve LRE right and I would probably go to the LRM one on principle. But it is still a bluddy stupid idea having two shows on the same weekend. FFS you would think anybody could work that out.... never mind show "organisers". Who announced the date first and who is the pillock?

I have a feeling you may be right. After all, the last time it changed hands, look what happened to the show the other mag put on.

My gut feeling is that Billing wins. It may also be beneficial loosing a proportion of the punters to another show, making it less crowded.

It only actually changed hands for one year Si.

The team that runs LRE now used to run LRO when Billing first started.

They sold the mag to the company that now owns LROi and they decided to run the show that year. It wasn't good IIRC, so the team started LRE, got the show back with them and have run it as the LRE Billing Show until now.

So, what ever anyone says about LRE, it's been that same team running the show for 15 out of it's 16 years and if you all think they've done such a bad job of it, why do you all go every year? :D

absolutly insane... :rolleyes::angry:

i hope that one show looks like being favorite, and that the majority of the traders all go to one... it would be daft to end up with two shows, neither of them being much good.... :(

Billing will always be at Billing.... go away LRE.

Because the show is largely made by the people who go to the show and not by the money grabbers who operate it.

Not spending money on things like adequate toilet facilities or shipping in enough showers for the number of people who are camping is a disgrace, they (Billing and/or LRE) are happy to take money for camping from people, why not to supply facilities too. Other than that there is not a lot to criticise, the arena events are better than some shows I could mention! :) ... although less moutain bikes and dogs shows might seem more relevant!

Tell me if I'm wrong but it seems that what makes Billing popular is the site layout not the show itself. Billing is a social event. Everyone gets to camp on top of the show and this makes it good for viewing the trucks going past and socialising in groups but also with other people. This is not replicated at any of the shows as the camping is always too far away and there is no chance to view other peoples trucks and meet up for beers and BBQ's.

Given this I think the best thing for the traders is to go to Billing. It consistently pulls in the crowds and produces sales for the traders. Also hopefully with the two shows clasj=hing in dates the traders rates will be reduced too! :)

If LRM want to continue the show at Billing i think it good on them.

Cheers

Steve

Of course negative publicity like this does nothing for LRE.............

In the days of the LRE Forum they could have a say........foot and shoot comes to mind..........

Also LRM have been waiting for LRE on two front:

LRE forum split bo become LR4x4 & LRA (LRA is now associated with LRM)

LRE left Billing and LRM stepped in!

What next, can LRE loose any more?

I tried to have a chat today with the people organising each. LRE's representative on earth was 'unavailable'. I did get to speak to someone from LRM though.

He clearly didn't want to get in to a fight with LRE over the whole thing - but said that it was Billing aquadrome who were hawking the show around the other mags - and it was LRM that was chosen/chose.

He said there will be a meeting of traders next month to discuss ideas for how to change it and the layout for 2007. He explicitly said that the toilets & shower situation would be improved, possibly with containerised mobile shower blocks like at the Belgium National.

On the whole he sounded very positive and enthusiastic in a way that LRE did not this year. I have high hopes that it will be better. On the basis of our conversation, I gave him a provisional booking.

So, I'll be at Billing next year!

I still think its daft having them both the same weekend. Maybe LRE will change the date - after all, they have changed the venue from what has previously been advertised so the date should be easy.

If they don't I have a feeling that one or the other will wither & die, possibly before it happens.
