  1. I like the idea of a standard tune 606 with an adaptor as an engine replacement put onto an R380.
  2. £2288.67 on Brit-car http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?query=TRC103330&xBrand=&part_type=&xSupplierID=&product-sort=&xPerPage=10
  3. Basic question: do bayonet airline connectors need clamps when you fit them into a rubber hose? If so what sort would folk use. I'm making up some whips or short lengths to connect up a condenser and blast pot.
  4. They are beautiful things - back from the day we were a nation of engineers
  5. This isn't about a Land Rover - but it's an eBay ad that made me smile. I have a couple of classic bikes and loved the description of this one for sale: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272257339088 It includes lines like : Tank gear change, don't bother with first unless you are into demolishing buildings or ploughing fields, second is the normal take off gear, third (top) will pull more than 75mph with sidecar and caravan!! (I have never actually towed a caravan with this bike, but it is very powerful!!) Top speed is a question of how much you value your life, in a top speed contest the BSA has more guts than I have, but I have seen 80 plus as my eye balls vibrated into a blur!! Total loss oil system, starts by lubricating the engine, then lubes the primary chain, then the rear chain, then the windscreen on the following car !! Traits we can relate to as Land Rover owners perhaps ?
  6. I thought you had a shelf in the way like me Mo?
  7. Another option to the utility route is that they go the G-Wagen way. They have positioned themselves as a luxury brand, dropping the freelander and so on - so similarly positioned in the market to Mercedes perhaps. At the end of the Defenders life they were at least partially positioning it as the niche 'real / rugged / leather seated 4x4'. They won't be ignorant of the Khan, Urban Truck, Bowler type mods going on at huge prices. So also not unlike the G-Wagen's market position. They seem to be happy to do to low volume hi profit models - the series 1 restorations, the aluminium e-types, the re-invented special vehicles .... So maybe we'll see a mega defender, with top spec powerful engine, clever electronics, on a strong beam axled chassis, with a luxurious interior, limited numbers, waiting lists, and huge prices ? Sold as 'the icon' and priced accordingly?
  8. I agree too - my reference to the over the top guest was the interview. Though I enjoyed their laps.
  9. I think I'd have to choose the 2.25 petrol.
  10. Anyone watch episode 3? I was really surprised - it was good. They had some great items on it, even a bit of technical detail ! Chris Evans wasn't overpowering, nothing was over the top (except one of the guests), and the rest of the presenters were fine. I mean it's light entertainment - make no mistake, but I think they are gradually moving to a newer style, which in my opinion seems better.
  11. I had 265/75 on std height with long travel suspension and had no problems at all. You may well be receiving very little benefit from it ...
  12. Unfortunately James has broke the bad news. Prodding patches of rust usually leads to big holes. The options then are repair or replace. Unless its surface rust then rubbing down etc isn't an option. Have a prod and see what happens.
  13. I watched 'extra gear' on iplayer - it has a much more agreeable atmosphere to it.
  14. How are you finding the suppleness now Mo ?i remember you were keen to keep it.
  15. I havent - but t do a search. They've been discussed before.
  16. They are definitely M6 - but I can't remember how long. The holes pass through though I think ? So the length might not be critical. At a guess I'd say M6 x 20mm
  17. May I ask what the price of a new genuine bulkhead is now ?
  18. I'd like to replace the rear section of headlining in my 90 - the front is fine but the back is marked and saggy ... To help me get one that matches - are there different colours / finishes ? I know the new tdci ones are apparently made differently and seem to come in different colours - but I don't know about earlier ones.
  19. Thanks both. I was thinking about replacing them - though simply with a washer and nyloc..
  20. My seat box has some corrosion in the bottom back corner but the square buts that sit on the outrigger are seized and spinning - any tips on what to hold them with ? I can get my hands on it but it's awkward to get a tool in, I can get a socket in but not hold it and the space is too tight for me to get grips in. Any suggestions welcomed!
  21. I'm with NFU and its around £500. I think that may be a postcode thing. I keep thinking of going elsewhere - but I've had to claim 3 times since I've been driving - 2 with NFU and they were utterly brilliant. Looked after me, offered the full value straight off etc. My experience of other companies is that the whole thing is a battle where they try and do as little and pay as little as possible. So as it stands, I think I could get it cheaper, but I want a quality product.
  22. Not sure if the pictures works : This is one of the safari snorkels that had the integrated pipe that passed through the wing. I forget the diameters now - but the airbox had a slight taper on its inlet, which meant the pipe fitted both.
  23. Ahh - I didn't think, mine was from the inside of a snorkel to the airbox. So I wasn't keeping the fitting on the inside of the wing.
